Hi @meljarv
It’s pretty much the same team that do the BMB. The Nurse might be different but it’s always one of the two Nurse Practitioners who do the BMB.
Both are excellent.
Not sure how feasible it is to request who does it as there’s not a heap of people trained to do it.
Also the demand for BMB slots is high which in some ways is a good thing and in other ways not as it indicates someone might be getting an initial diagnosis or checked following a change.
Hope that helps.

Hi DuncanB ,
thank you for your reply.
I think nurses are always better particularly if that is their primary role. For example, my partner had 2 doctors doing his kidney biopsy, it took them 3 attempts to get a suitable sample. The second time it was a nurse, she did in one take, he was in and out in no time.
My doctor was a trainee haematologists and I think there lies the problem. I wasn’t told he was a trainee but feel I should have been.
From all the replies from everyone I think I was very unlucky with the team I had for my biopsy. Had it been a different team I am sure I wouldn’t be in this position just now.
I am feeling a bit better after all the messages. It’s happened I need to move on.
Thank you again for your reply, sending you positive vibes.
kind regards
Mel

Hi @meljarv
Glad you’re feeling better having replies from people.
It’s important that we all understand that all doctors are classified as doctors in training until they become Consultants.
Typically it takes a doctors a minimum of 13 years on average from finishing medical school to becoming a Consultant.
Obviously how far into doctor training the individual was we don’t know. If I was to guess probably fairly far into their training so definitely experienced.
However speak with your Consultant as they can advise.
Hope that helps.
