Good Morning,
My husband’s case is going to be discussed at a special panel to check if he is eligible for CAR-T therapy for High Grade lymphoma.
Has anyone received this as a treatment and what has been their experience?
Thank you
Hello @Bella110,
A huge Welcome to our Forum.
I hope you don’t mind me replying to you, whilst I don’t have personal experience of a CAR-T transplant, I wanted to let you know that we do have have an information page on our website: [What is CAR-T therapy] (What is CAR-T therapy and how does it work? | Blood Cancer UK) that you might find useful to read.
Hopefully there will be other users that will reply and share their own experiences with you on this thread.
When will you and your husband be told if he is eligible for CAR-T? Hopefully it is not too long to wait to have an answer.
You or your husband are welcome to call our Support Line if you want to discuss anything around Lymphoma or CAR-T in the mean time: 0808 2080 888.
Stay in touch, best wishes to you both, Heidi.
Hi @Bella110 I am so glad that you have found us, welcome.
I certainly cannot better @Heidi_BloodCancerUK response to you, but I just wanted to welcome us to our forum family.
I really hope you do not have to wait long for the special panel decision, waiting in limbo is horrible for both of you.
Do not underestimate the impact on you too.
Really be kind and look after yourselves and I look forward to hearing more about you both.
Hi, I was diagnosed with ALL in June last year. Three cycles of chemo did not result in any improvement so I was referred for CAR-T in December. I had my white cells infused in January and have been in remission since March. The first 2 weeks after having the cells were challenging and I spent a few days in ICU and then had neurotoxicity. However, once I got past those couple of weeks things steadily improved and I haven’t looked back. I’m doing pretty much everything I was able to do before my diagnosis, although I do get out of breath and tired more easily.
I hope your husband’s case gets passed for treatment and that it is successful for him. All the best, Joy
Hi Joy, thank you for sharing. I have passed on your positive comments to my husband. It is really great to hear that CAR-T has been successful for you. My husband has since been approved and had his T cells collected this week.
Wishing you good health in the future.
