Confused about vaccination eligibility

Hi Tanya, I will have a look at the link, thank you. I didn’t hear back from NHS within 24 hours but didn’t expect to as my positive test was on a Friday. I managed to get through to a GP this morning who said he would refer me to the NHS Covid 19 service regarding treatment, by phone, but no call so far. From what I had read, treatment should start soon after a positive test. Hopefully as I am classed “watch and wait” plus have had fourth covid jab, I will not get too poorly. All my symptoms are a repeat of a heavy cold I had last August when the cough and fatigue lasted for six weeks. That was before my Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) diagnosis and multiple covid tests were negative.

All the messages of welcome and support are appreciated. I have a sibling also with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL).

Hi @Lulu1221, thank you for getting back to me and that’s good to hear your GP has said he will refer you onwards. Please do update us, and we are here for you in case we can be of any further support (0808 2080 888).

Best wishes,
Tanya.

Hi Tanya
In case it is useful feedback - I received a call early this morning from the Covid unit at the local hospital. After asking questions the caller determined that day 7 of Covid for me is tomorrow, which meant it was too late for some of the treatments but I could have Remdesivir for 3 days if I started tomorrow. As it is given intravenously I would need to attend the hospital for 3 days - day 1 approximately 2 and a half hours and days 2 and 3 for 1 and a half hours. I would also need hospital transport. It was stressed it was my decision.

A difficult decision to make as I cannot foresee how the Covid will develop - no worse than a bad cold or flu? I read that side effects of this drug include headaches and/or nausea. I have decided to see how I am today and make a final decision in the morning. Maybe I am too hopeful that the 4th Covid jab I had in May will reduce severity? Where is a crystal ball when needed?

I guess my advice to others who are waiting for an invitation for the fourth jab is to go onto the NHS website and book it yourself, as I did.

Thank you for the support.

Hi @Lulu1221 please let us know what you decide to do and how you are feeling, I hate dilemmas, especially when I am not feeling well.
Look after yourself and be kind to yourself.

Hello Tanya
We are good, have ups & downs with mood but that’s more to do with other peoples lack of empathy or caution. We do manage to get out &socialise with a few people outdoors, coffees, lunches etc which usually involves a dog walk. We also have a caravan that allows us to escape & be self contained, visit new countryside/beaches etc we don’t go too far away as want to be able to get home quickly should we need to access anti virals/mABs. We couldn’t be completely ‘locked down’ and weigh up the perceived risks as we see it. Ever hopeful for Evusheld. Have booked a trip to Scotland next year via overnight train, self contained ‘suite’ so :crossed_fingers:should be ok. We’ve always travelled the world but some friends still can’t understand why we’re not still flying . Best wishes

Best wishes, difficult decisions and we are all different. We accessed all my husbands -x5 vaccinations ourselves, much persistence from me, he never once got a call up. As I said I think he was one of the Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) group left off the list due to IT coding issues. He was always designated CEV and received all letters the UK Gov sent out. I’m an ex nurse & wouldn’t take any ‘crap’ I dread to think how some have managed.

I think I am over it and got off lightly (this time?). I have slept lots but otherwise it has been a head cold for me and I feel I am recovering well. I am thankful I had my 4th Covid jab. Thank you for your concern.
