This was so great to read! Made my day x

Had to look up MRD and may I just say that’s incredible, no detectable myeloma cells?! It’s so awe-inspiring to me that science has helped you like this, I’m really so pleased for you! Ring that bell until it breaks, I say!!!
Thank you so much for being brave enough to share how this has all been for you—the good, the bad and the not so pretty parts included. I learn so much from you about tolerance. Like @judesadventures says so well, your compassion shines through for yourself and others here.
What’s next @Spangleystar?!
Thank you all so much for your kind words, after reading them I thought my head was turning into a hot air balloon and I was floating away ![]()
The reality is without networks like this, my experience could have been totally different. I believe a positive mindset is everything, in the words of Maya Angelou, but a slight misquote ‘If you can’t change something, change how you feel about it’ because none of us wanted to need this forum, but I am so much richer for it. There are blessings everywhere and we have to keep remembering to acknowledge and appreciate them. I see great examples of this from all of you and knowing you has helped me grow. Thank you.
As for what’s next. Today is day 100, the last day of shielding and I have virtual Pilates followed by virtual Yoga - I cannot wait to get back to the studio and take these classes in person. Tomorrow is our 17th Wedding Anniversary and we are all going to Dorset to stay with our favourite family (my best friend). A long overdue get together ![]()
Have a wonderful weekend whatever it has in store for you. I think the temp is dropping down to a more normal summer, enjoy xx
That’s wonderful news , delighted for you. Hope you have the best weekend. X
Happy anniversary spangles and hope your having a lovely time ![]()
@Spangleystar
Thank you we’re having a lovely time and the weather has cooled down a bit so sleeping is easier
I’m actually going to a few small independent shops in Sherborne today, can’t wait. Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend xx
Sounds like a great time spangles
I had a nice quiet weekend my daughter and I went to the drive through coffee place and then sat in the car park watching the world go by
X
How’s everybody doing?
@Byrnebaby you’re over 2/3rds through now, how are you finding it?
@2DB any more news on your next steps, did you have your MRI yet ?
Hope everyone is feeling good, I’m starting to think about easing myself back to work now, so won’t be checking in as much but do feel free to tag me! Xx
Hi spangles
No app for MRI yet I did ring have to wait for letter
It’s just warm enough to sit outside today which I’m enjoying with a cuppa and suguru
Ease in gently to work you will be surprised how tired you get the first few days
I lots of stimuli and keep away from sick people x
@Byrnebaby where you at
Hope everyone is doing well to your abilities

Oh don’t worry I will be working from home - my goal is 3 hours a day initially (a max of 15 hours a week) but I want to get a couple of rounds of Isatuximab under my belt first and see how I cope with that, so this pre return to work, work
. Reading all the emails I filed for when I could concentrate, spending time looking at the internal info sites and getting back up to speed etc!
I hope your pain is stable or reduced. Hopefully you’ll get your MRI date soon. I have an echo this week to see if the Melph did anything to worsen my heart condition, fingers crossed it didn’t. I’ve no symptoms so I’m not expecting any problems. Xx
That sounds like a plan spangles
I did a 12 week rehabilitation return
An hour a day for four days
2 hours a day for a week or so
This was back in 2018 I was customer facing back then.
I had Zometa last week that has helped a lot with the pain thankfully
Hope all goes well with your heart ![]()

morning ladies! That’s amazing
getting back into work life, take it easy though and still rest, when do you start ISA? You’ve done amazingly well with your recovery and I bet it feels good to be able to get out and about now? Xx
Hope you are doing ok @2DB, and not having to cope with too much pain while waiting to start your new treatment xx
You’re right
! I’m day 69 today, off to hospital for my 1st blood test in 6 weeks, and telephone consultation on Thursday, then I guess it’s back in the rollercoaster
of bmb, results, treatment, getting very nervous about this next stage, and wether the Stem cell transplant was worth it, trying to get my head back in the game x has your hair started coming back yet?
It’s very nerve wracking where you’re at at the moment my darling. The combination of isolation and I’m sure with K being at work /germs etc and likely overthinking, then of course the unknown - what are my numbers doing. It’s a lot my lovely @Byrnebaby Don’t forget we are here for you (and I know you’re here for me
).
What helped me, given I still feel like ‘never again’ to Stem cell transplant, was just accepting it as a life experience, obviously an incredibly humbling, difficult one. You can’t change that you went through it and you can’t change the outcome. Pack it up in a mental box, lock it and throw away the key. I tried to shift my mindset of ‘was it worth it’, because it would draw me back into thinking about it and I only want to focus forward.
Did I tell you about my last BMB? It didn’t hurt! Like not at all, I couldn’t believe it. I’m hoping for the same for you.
Waiting on a start date for Isa but have been told it will be a Thursday or Friday and I have to start before 11th September under trial protocol.
Yes my hair is coming back, I buzzed it with a number 2 yesterday to get it tidy as I had the leftover hair standing straight up and new growth coming through, so it looked awful. Never thought I’d say this but I’m not mad at my buzzcut
actually weirdly makes me feel quite strong - I even did 2 dog walks yesterday without a wig on!
Xx
This is great to hear - was anything done differently that you think affected this, @Spangleystar?
I don’t think so - I had a consultant rather than a registrar, it all seemed the same as previous bmb’s in terms of setup, but he was incredibly gentle and quick…
Another step forward working from home.
Important to pace yourself and accept when concentration flagging.
I remember at one point post transplant and during recovery struggling on a Zoom call for an hour.
Hope the echo goes well.
Take care
Oh my lil
I also have those straggly hairs!
I’m going to have to get K to trim them down also, totally in the same camp as you re: Stem cell transplant, nope, never, been there, done that, got the t-shirt, but I’m thinking neither of us will ever have to contemplate it again anyway x
I’m actually not as panicked about germs etc as I was, I’ve been going out shopping at 7am masked every Saturday since I got home, with Keith on trolley duty, and it’s been great, also had a few walks out, just as change of
scenery. So glad your BMB went well and didn’t hurt, I think of if it now as something to endured and focus on the hot chocolate afterwards,
I’m guessing things will start moving along for me now, and await the BMB appt, is there a reason you are in on a Thurs or Fri? Is that because it’s the trial, as I’m hoping to do whatever we I get on a weds or Thurs, so we can enjoy Ks days off on Fri/sat, I too hope your ecg goes well
@Spangleystar
I’m not entirely sure why the days - I’d bet it’s hospital specific rather than trial - I guess haematology treatment is on certain days of the week in that unit - it’s clinic on a Tuesday and my last lot was also on a Thursday.
Glad to hear you are doing well lovely
xxx
Oh that makes sense
! Hadn’t thought of different areas having seperate treatment days! How are you doing exercise wise? I’m ok walking for a bit now, but want to do a bit more muscle/weight bearing, I used to do weights and bounce before all this, not had any input from physio during recovery, but I’m getting g a bit. ‘Crunchy’
and know I need to do more than walk now x @Spangleystar
