I have been curious about cholesterol levels for a while. Yesterday after a medication review I found out my cholesterol had fallen again to 1.9.
My question is why am I taking statins? Anyway it seems there is a connection with leukemia and very low cholesterol. As cholesterol is a very important chemical what happens if the level continues to fall? My haematologist advised to keep taking them. I have read articles on many medical sites Low cholesterol seems to be another symptom although perhaps little is known why. Has anyone else had a similar experience., or perhaps not many link the two.
Perhaps medical services should highlight that low cholesterol can indicate a problem.
Unclejack.
Oh @Unclejack I sometimes think that I cannot win sometimes, we are such complex beings.
I have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and my cardiologist realised this year that my cholesterol was high and he advised that I get it down with meds.,
So I have confused you more now.
Perhaps with your evidence have another talk to your consultant.
Look after yourself and please do let us know how you get on
@Erica
Hi Erica
Yes apparently high cholesterol can be linked to various types of cancer. I suppose it’s a side effect of the disease. Pity it is never mentioned has a symptom on any of our websites. I guess there are probably many changes in our bodies affected by various cancers. On a different story I have watched a documentary about our nuclear test veterans who have been treated dreadfully. most have since their exposure died of leukaemia and to a lesser extent other cancers. Their offspring suffering awful disfigurement and other genetic effects. We are the only country who have refused to accept that high doses of radiation is a cause of their health problems. All the other nations who carried out nuclear tests have accepted responsibility for it’s effects on test personnel.
Our masters seems to favour cover ups!
Very best wishes to you
Uncle Jack.
Yes @Unclejack I have seen a similar programme.
I have had Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) for 20 yrs without anyone worrying about my cholesterol.
