My name is Mark, I am 60 years old and the next few months will be very challenging for me and my family. Having spoken to the Consultant at St James in Leeds yesterday they said that it requires a heavy initial dose of initial Chemo to try and reduce the cancer in the bone marrow, this prior to a pending transfusion.
Hi @Stozza64 and a big welcome to the forum.
Iām sorry you find yourself here but hope you find it a supportive place to be, especially over the next few months of treatment.
It must be a lot to get your head around in a very short space of time, for you and your family. How are you all managing?
There will be lots of forum members who will be able to share their experiences with you and remember the support line is there for you and your family if you feel it would help to talk things through. I have added the details below.
When does treatment start?
Please keep posting. This is one place where you can say how it really for you.
Hi @Stozza64 I am so glad that you have found us.
Yes, I think the unknown treatments and potential side effects are challenging or for me scary.
Now you are part of our forum family please do use us and say how it really is for you.
Do you have any support?
Perhaps keep your medical team informed of any symptoms, if you get any.
The hardest part for me would be actually asking for and receiving help.
@Nichola75 has given you the Blood Cancer UK support line details.
Look after yourself and please do keep posting
