Hi, newby here. I’m 63 and diagnosed with Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS) almost 2 years ago. I now have tested positive for covid and totally wiped out. Others I know are fine after 3 or 4 days, I’m on day 6 and struggle to get out of bed. I’m normally very active running a wildlife rescue. Is this the Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS)? Thanking you in anticipation
Hi @Sandy218
welcome to the forum , I am so sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell .I have no medical knowledge and have a different diagnosis (Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL))) so can’t say whether it’s one thing or the other unfortunately.
I have friends who have experienced Covid a couple of times though and they have stated that it has wiped them out so I think both things affect everyone very differently.
I know with my diagnosis that even a simple cold can knock me off my feet for a few days.
If you aren’t improving I would speak to your care team or your GP
I do hope you are feeling better soon
Please be kind to yourself and take care of
Best wishes
Hi @Sandy218,
Thank you for your post and welcome to our forum.
We are sorry to hear about your diagnosis of Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS) and that you currently have covid.
Covid symptoms can sometimes linger, but if you are continuing to struggle or feeling unwell we would reiterate what Dottie has kindly advised and recommend speaking with your GP/ healthcare team or 111.
As described on Myeloma UK’s COVID-19 information ‘Patient with Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS) (monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance) only have a very small increased risk of infection compared with the general population.’
We hope you are feeling better soon!
