I’m Ceri, the new Blood Cancer UK staff lead for the forum.
It’s really nice to be here, and even in my first few days I can tell that this community is cared for brilliantly by the Forum Support Volunteers, clinical nurses and the Support Services team. I feel very lucky to be stepping in alongside them.
My background is in digital and grassroots community and strategy work, and I also have my own lived experience of blood cancer (Hodgkin Lymphoma), from which I am now in remission. That has shaped a lot of how I think about support, connection, and the value of spaces like this. But I also know each person’s experience of being affected by blood cancer is uniquely and intimately their own, so I won’t ever assume mine reflects anyone else’s.
For now, I’ll mostly be listening and learning so I can get to know the rhythm of the forum and the people who make it what it is, and understand how we can best support the community. Feel free to say hello whenever you fancy.
@Ceri_BloodCancerUK Massive welcome to the wonderful BCUK Team. Look forward to connecting with you along the way. Every good wish as you settle in. The folk on here - staff, volunteers and those posting for, or giving, support, are amazing!
