I was diagnosed in September with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) after finding a lump in my neck. My initial tests proved negative so I was shocked after my second biopsy diagnosed Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). I am currently on Watch and Wait. I have told family and friends but in the main I try not to think about it most of the time. I don’t appear to have any other symptoms and exercise regular so am relatively fit. I have been told that a study showed that Vitamin D could prolong time to first treatment or time between treatment. Has anyone had any experience of this?
Hi @Sue64 welcome to our forum, I also have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL).
I was diagnosed 21 years ago and I have always been on watch and wait (active monitoring)
You ask about Vitamin D, personally I always believe in talking to my medical team or a dietician who know my whole medical history, medications, lifestyle and diet before adding or removing anything from my diet.
You yourself say that you exercise regularly and are relatively fit.
Personally I was told that nothing I could eat would change my diagnosis although this was 21 yrs ago and advice can change over time.
Please do let us know how you get on and I look forward to hearing more about you.
Yes, you have had a shock so please do be very kind to yourself and keep posting.
Hello Erica. Thanks for the advice. I have my next check up in February so I will check with my consultant about the Vit D and let you know how I get on. It’s great that you have been on watch and wait for 21 years and gives me hope. In the meantime I am staying active and keeping a positive outlook.
Hi @Sue64 I have found one advantage to my diagnosis is that it has given me the opportunity to look at my life and decide what I want from it and with whom.I am now less materialistic and I have learnt to say ‘No’. I am also fitter now than I have ever been. and realised that the best things in life are free like family and good friends, nature, music etc.
Yes, I have my good and bad days like everyone else.
Look after yourself and please do keep posting
