@Franko I went to the hospital in the week and that means going past our local Uni and it was very apparent that the vast number of students were in their own world and not space ally aware or wearing masks.
@Franko @Erica totally agree I am afraid the students I supervise wear a mask for our tutorials when we meet in the grotty basement rooms because they want me to continue to supervise their dissertations and know I’d hand over to another if they did not, but mostly rip them off as soon as they leave the room. I shoot down corridors trying to avoid the throng but I do worry about the Library and some of the breakout rooms as the ventitlation is poor. Selfishly thank goodness that I only have to go in occasionally.
To all on here 2day I read a report confirming week on week infections have dropped in the last week, but as we know reports from the ONS, were as sobering as it could get only on Friday. While I am no pessimist, I don’t gamble with lives!!
May I suggest Bloodcancer patients and families most effected to be on guard by telling those with perfect immune systems who “chance it”, that "THEY ARE BEHAVING IRRESPONSIBLY ", if want of a better expression not that I whish to cause trouble or encourage threatening language of course, but I’m sure you will think of something appropriate and actually repeatable.
Warn people using social media make window posters, perhaps get people to post in shop windows and bus shelters, if are well enough. Get them circulated on public transport and taxs, if you know people who are well and can help Of course, get permission first. Post them here as well. This is everyones moment to make a difference!
Remember we need peoples support and them to encurage (not the opposite) people to support us, all for one and one for all!
Lets do this!
I strongly agree with so much which has been posted. It does feel as if vulnerable people and their families are being put in danger by this government. I agree Ismo that we need a united vulnerable people front. This government shows a total disregard for the safety and well-being of vulnerable people and their families. Many European countries, as well as Scotland and Wales, still have mask mandates for public transport and other crowded indoor places. Many countries also have vaccine passports or a certification system to go into venues and as a result people feel safer going out. In this country it’s those who are immunocompromised and immunosuppressed
who are effectively excluded from places due to the lack of coronavirus mitigations.

I don’t like to post links, but if you paste this into a search engine it may be of interest to all
“The treatment, known as molnupiravir or Lagevrio, has been licensed for those aged 18 and over who test positive for the virus and have at least one risk factor for developing severe disease” copied directly from the source of information
They are telling us all to go cautiously (lip service), pity they don’t do the same or implement it officially. Do they think were all Kryptonian?
it feels as if we are being culled along with the very elderly sadly
Yes. I think everyone is turning a blind eye to the current figures and pretending that things have gone back to normal, when we all know that they haven’t.
Glad other people have added to this before I have as I did not want to look like I was trying to “hog” the post.
As we know the R rate dropped to 0.8(lowest end) Friday. The R rate is the most accurate reading of where things stand ie reproduction, but it is about 10 days old in terms of statistical data analysis, VERY DETAILED analysis may I add, so
but when I say most accurate, its a contradiction in terms perhaps? Its down to our judgement to keep up to date on everything. eg I know R has dropped, but if I had a non essential appt 2moro. I would politely cancel, unfortunately not everyone can do this.
On Thursday the week on week drop was about 700 in positive cases.
Fridays cases seen a significant week on week increase. As for today Saturday 13 November 2021 positive cases were 38351 a week on week increase of 7658 from the previous Saturday.
In conclusion will the Government fund spacesuits for vulnerable people to attend medical appointments?
With respect to ONS, BE ON GUARD and that includes from other people who you see not acting cautiously or acting selfishly, I’ve already heared young children in supermarket ques telling adults off in a polite but firm manner, I would encourage vulnerable groups to do the same. Some people are ignorant to those less fortunate but if you loose your temper make threatening gestures and swear you will get nowhere sadly.
The Government have been a disgrace, we had a health secretary who had to resign, a current health Secretary who thinks were all Kryptonian and a Pm who was seen visiting a hospital without a mask!?!?
It’s up to us now! One For all and all for one. Lets do this!
Sorry if anyone thinks I’m hogging this board, I’m confused. Today Boris encouraged everyone to get 3rd jab, because of a winter wave, adding that there is no need to go to plan B (extra caution)
As we don’t know how effective vaccines work on vulnerable people, shouldn’t the message be one of “double caution” ie GET VACCINATED & APPLY PLAN B
It takes 21 days to reach full immunity after 2nd jab, not sure how long it takes to reach full immunity after 3rd jab and some of us may or will need a 4th jab. I certainly would not “test” the vaccine. The views of the vulnerable have fallen on deaf ears once more and of course cases are on the rise AGAIN…
They are not going to implement plan B until it is too late and only then if they think it will avoid another lockdown. Having one of the highest death rates in the world and a few weeks ago literally the highest infection rate I see our beloved leader is now talking of the wave sweeping the continent possibly reaching us as if we have been Covid free all along. However if you look at it from another point of view what his great experiment of pretending it is all over has achieved is the knowledge that the Great British public can live pretty comfortably with up to 200 deaths a day and very possibly more. No I do not think they are culling the elderly and the vulnerable I am sure that the Gov and the public would prefer us to be safe so long of course as keeping us safe does not inconvenience them. Quite a reality check to think your right to life and health is of less value than someone else’s right not to wear a mask on a train or in a crowded place but so it appears to be.
Thanks just take these points in prder I have copied from a source. (I now don’t post links)
- PM Boris Johnson says it is unclear how the “storm clouds” of the new wave of Covid in Europe “will wash up on our shores”
- He urges people to get vaccinated “as soon as…eligible”, and says it would be a “tragedy” if double-jabbed people fell ill without their booster
- Asked if he can rule out Christmas lockdown, PM says current data does not point to the need for a Covid “Plan B”
My understanding of his theory- 3rd Jabs = no plan b = avoid lockdown
Does he realise how difficult it is to get third jabs? I’m in the highest risk group & I only got mine after the first 12%! So in the meantime caution gets thrown to the wind without plan B?!
I find it apt that we air our views as anon, as some people forget that the vulnerable exist in society!
Hi @anon06, just to let you know we’ve updated our info to include Lagevrio on our webpage about antibody treatments, here - Antibody treatments for people with blood cancer | Blood Cancer UK. We will keep updating our info as we learn more.
