Stem cell transplant - High Ferratin issues?

I’ve been asked by a friend who is due to have a stem cell transplant and they’ve been informed that they have high levels of ferratin after all the blood transfusions.

She is concerned that this can affect the transplant outcome and safety… can anyone help with this, has anyone else come across this?

Thanks

hi, if there was any impact on the transplant they would do something beforehand. I had high ferritin levels and at 3 years post transplant they gave me a number of venesections which reduces the load. i believe the potential problems are long term not immediately.
