details of the latest webinar from CLL Support Association:
Thursday 28 January at 4.30 pm
This will be a full programme looking at two key areas of interest for CLL patients.
" Looking forward with CLL/SLL: Time to think about Early Stage Disease’'
by Dr Niamh Appleby
and:
“Coping strategies in the time of Covid-19”
by Pinky Jimenez
More about our speakers:
Dr Appleby has kindly agreed to talk to us about her work in the OXPLORED study and the use of Molecular Diagnostics in relation to how CLL develops in the early stages, which may give an insight into new treatment… She will also give us an update on current treatments and Covid-19 vaccinations.
Dr Niamh Appleby is from the Oxford University Molecular Diagnostics Centre and an expert in researching personalised treatments for blood cancer patients. She holds an award from Health Education England Genomic Medicine Fellowship to continue her work into the latest techniques for predicting how patients will respond to treatment and how long before they may relapse. This is a hugely important area of research that will hopefully lead to kinder and more effective treatments.
We will also hear from:
Pinky Jimenez will explain simple behavioural strategies to help cope with anxiety. She will be in conversation with two of our trustees, Gail Weigman and Norah Grant.
Pinky Jimenez is an occupational therapist and a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. She trained in Oxford and is currently studying for her MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King’s College London.
and:
A Patient’s perspective: Stephen Pollard
Stephen is a CLL patient and a well-know journalist. He has written about his CLL and will be telling us about his CLL journey.
