I think the immunocompromised & vulnerable should adopt an athem that represents hope and our current plight.
All suggestions are welcome I have posted my choice below. I look forward to peoples replies. We may not be seen but should always be heard
Great idea @anon06! I like your choice. Sorry I don’t know how to post the link like you have done, but my song choice is RISE UP by Andra Day. Warm wishes, Willow
Thanks @anon06. I only have an iPad so not sure whether it’s possible. I am not very technologically minded! Warm wishes, Willow
@Willow
Sadly the bottom line is we are getting a RAW real and we need to reach out to as many audiences as possible, music is the key!
Imagine if one of these songs was played at the next protest and the impact it would have.
Also on the legal perspective they are far from being aggressive!
Sympathetic, but uplifting lyrics portraying our plight to a broad audience
Hi @anon06 and @Willow very interesting thought, thanks.
I will leave this to @BloodCancerUK to answer your post as I do not know if this is something that they have looked at before.
Thanks for your reply that means a lot.
Hi @anon06 and @Willow I have heard back from BCUK and they do not think we have had a thread like this before.
Both of your songs are so appropriate and I need time to really think about this and will come back with my offering in due course.
I look forward to hearing the final reply from @BloodCancerUK and thank you @Erica for your comments on the song choices.
Hi @anon06 and @Willow
I am going for
QUEEN - Hammer to fall - Queen - Hammer To Fall (Official Video) - YouTube
But I haven’t stopped thinking, I might come up with something else later
@Erica @2DB @Willow @BloodCancerUK I think the more tracks put forward the better as potentially it could be developed into a compilation Album, “Rise Up!” would make the ideal title for a compilation album. To coin another song or phrase, you’ve just gotta get on your feet and make things happen, then take some action, then of course reach higher, search Gloria Estefan hits. Each song on the album could have a blurb about why the song has been selected written by the person who selected it. Remember of course we live in the digital age so printing and some production costs can be avoided, not that Im trying to make it sound easy. Song choices and blurbs could start on this board I look forward to hearing selections and the reasons for them.
I chose the Whitney song because it outlines the longing for freedom in a lasting uplifting way, particularly use of the words “Give me one moment in time”, in addition to answers to my dreams are a heartbeat away and use of the words “I will be free!!”
Whitney left a legacy amongst many generations in terms of publicity that would be generated.
I have re edit this post to suggest a potential album cover could be a mask or vulnerable people wearing masks.
I have to add all choices have been good, but “Rise up” title strikes a chord straight away especially with a contemporary audience. It needs no explanation, two words summing up the cause perfectly we need to Rise Up!
I have more ideas for songs as well but am more inclined to give other people a chance to contribute first, this is a team project!
Hi @anon06 I know it is a team project but I heard The Pretenders - I’ll stand by you and was really struck by it - I’ll stand by you - The Pretenders (with lyrics) - YouTube I will control myself now, honestly and I apologise again
Good choice and contribution, don’t apologise
Been a while since Ive posted anything here, does anyone have any more ideas for tracks that represents the plight of the vulnerable, perhaps people could name their top 20 tracks suitable for a compilation. Ideally tracks that represent us throughout the song, but of course the title of the song could represent us alone, with an explanation for choice. People may have a song in mind, but the original singer may be dead, they could suggest for FUN who they would want to sing it, if such a project came to fruition.
More people posting videos would get the message across regardless of if we get a single/cd album/record cover/mp3 or not
For fun people could submit a cd album cover design that they think represents us best. For newcomers, see previous posts.
Also as a point of musical discussion in general would anyone like to list who they think are their top 20 music legends? Should people want to submit a group can count as
one choice, eg if you said The Rolling Stones that would be 1 choice out of 20
@Willow @Erica @2DB @Rammie18
A bit of a morbid response from me and not what you asked for
QUEEN - Made in Heaven CD - Made in Heaven (Deluxe Edition) - YouTube
A very poignant album as it was made when Queen knew Freddie Mercury was dying of Aids.
Freddie Mercury
Eric Clapton
Eva Cassidy
Roberta Flack
Rod Stewart
Stevie Nicks
Dionne Warwick
Joni Mitchell
Johnny Mathis
Lionel Richie
David Bowie
Elvis Presley
Simon and Garfunkel
Fleetwood Mac
Carpenters
Queen
Moody Blues
Hot Chocolate
The Hollies
Dire Straits
In no particular order and I could go on and on !!!
Some good choices for legends top 20, some songs/lyrics from "The Show Must go on " my reflect the hard life the vulnerable live. Yes I like it ",on and on like they say in the song. Made in heaven was also a classic.
Elvis Presley
Dolly Parton
Frank Sinatra
Paul McCartney & John Lennon
The Bee Gees
Queen
Elton John & Bernie Taupin
Jimmy Page & Robert Plant
Keith Richards & Mick Jagger
Rod Stewart
Dianna Ross
Michael Jackson
Tom Jones
Lionel Ritchie
Carol King & Gerry Goffin
Cliff Richard
Beverley Knight
Ray Charles
Fleetwood Mac
Sam Cooke
The Drifters
I have used the group as one choice option for a lot of Partnerships. As great as Elton John is you cant include him without Bernie Taupin his lyricist. Versatility, Longevity and popularity was a big influence. I have included 21, because I was debating between Bev Knight and the Drifters. Leaving Celine Dion out was difficult.
So the rule is 21 now
There is always one more, Bev was probably the extra one, but as well as being a great artist I fancy her like mad. I like Kylie as well, but I had to be strict with myself, so sorry Kylie
Hello @anon06. It will take some thought to come up with my list but in the meantime there are songs sung by Russell Watson such as “You’ll still be there for me” which are meaningful to me. I am also aware that Russell Watson has had significant health challenges of his own - a brain tumour - and yet he hasn’t given up. This encourages me to keep going too. I like songs with meaning that come from people’s personal experiences, rather like reading an autobiography.
Also Celine Dion “Because you loved me.”
I like many of Whitney Houston’s songs. I know you mentioned one, @anon06, “One moment in time.”
“The greatest love of all” carries an important message I feel. I will keep thinking! Warm wishes, Willow x
Thanks good choices I look forward to more of your input for legends top 21 & anthems
