Bored at Work

Hi everyone, not posted for a while. Sitting in my shop atm bored out of my skull. Still got another 20 minutes before I reopen. Think I am just having a wee off day today - just thinking about everything yet again. Still thinking about my wee maw who passed away 8 months ago. Also trying to work out how to pay bills. Just want to hideaway today. Dont finish till 9pm then a 1 hr journey home.

Still waiting for Occupational Health to contact me about an appointment to see if i can be cleared to start Officer Training. Just taking so long at the moment.

Anyhow, hope you all have a good weekend. All the best to you . Joe xx

Hi @Jbeaver12. I’m glad you posted. We all have days like this and it can make you feel pretty rubbish can’t it, even more so when you have nothing to keep your mind busy! It seems like you have a lot going on at the moment to and a lot that has happened this past year.
Have they given you any idea of how long OH will take to get back to you?
You’ve got a long shift today and a long journey home. Do you have to work tomorrow or can you take some time for yourself?
The bills are a huge worry aren’t they. Everything just seems to be going up!
Where are you working today? I hope it gets a little busier to shell the time go a little faster!

Hi Nichola, Thanks for the reply. I have no indication when OH will contact me. I am working tomorrow unfortunately but off Monday Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday next week. I work 9-9 at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre and its roughly 2 1/2 hrs round trip to get there from my house. I do have a plan for the Bills as my company has a fund for employees to help them out that I can apply for. I work in the shop within the Detention Centre so it can get quiet at times however as we get more people in, we will be busier. I was that bored that I tidied up the Energy Drinks area and must have moved almost 1-200 packs of them. Roll on tomorrow and my final shift of this rotation. Have a great weekend Nichola. All the best to you.

I bet you’re looking forward to your days off! That is a very long day!
Great news that you get support with bills.
I hope the rest of your shift was bit busier. Safe journey home and keep us updated on how you are getting on

Oh @Jbeaver12 you bring back a lot of memories for me of jobs I did over the years.
Not jobs I ever wanted to do but often to pay the bills and that were convenient for childcare.
I am glad that your firm has a fund you can apply for with all the bills going up, I find it scary.
Do you know I would rather be busy at work than bored.
I am impressed that you tidied up the Energy Drinks, I have been cleaning up after decorators that have been in to repair the water damage from a leak from the flat upstairs that we had over Christmas.
That journey of yours sounds a lot.
I hope that you hear from Occupational Health soon.
Take lots of care and keep posting

Morning @Jbeaver12
I have worked for 33 years in various different aspects of prison custody. In my training role I spent some time visiting Harmondsworth a few years back.
Since covid I’ve worked at home in a new role. I’ve a wonderfully supportive employer who have been fantastic throughout my diagnosis and then again when the pandemic hit and I needed to shield at home. I now work in the education sector and it’s fantastic.
I wish you luck with your application and your career as an officer it’s a rewarding and interesting career with lots of opportunities.
