Diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) 8 months ago and WCC rising, but Drs not keen to start treatment yet. I have had 3 viral episodes in 3 months, latest cold taking ages to clear. People keep advising me to take multi vitamins, but would this even help with CL? Does anyone take any supplements they believe help?
Thanks, Carol
Hi @Kas44 I also have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), but I do not think it matters what blood cancer we have.
I talk to my specialist nurse or Dr before I change my diet, liquid intake or take any supplements etc.
When I was diagnosed 20yrs ago a nurse said to me that no foods would improve my Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) results.
Let us know how you get on.

Hello there @Kas44
Our Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) pages here What is chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)? | Blood Cancer UK explain that due to your diagnosis, the infections you may have can last longer and be more frequent. Often they are unavoidable but I very much understand you wanting to avoid them if possible.
Keeping active and eating a well balanced diet is important. In terms of taking supplements we would suggest discussing this with your treatment team. Whilst you are not taking treatment, taking a multi vitamin would not cause harm but I would suggest mentioning your persistent virus’ to your Hospital Team and mention your thoughts around supplementation.
Our CLL and infection | Blood Cancer UK pages do explain the importance of vaccinations and escalating infections to your healthcare team in order to manage them efficiently.
I have also included some other resources at the bottom of the message to hopefully support you. Do call us if you should need to talk this through: 0808 208 0888
Kind regards
Gemma
