Hi @Mandypandy, yes, the question that so many of us wanted to ask but perhaps not the response we hoped for.
It must be very worrying for you both with your husband doing such a vital role in a supermarket, but coming in contact with so many people.
Please thank your husband for what he is doing.
Has anyone else got similar worries?
@Mandypandy. I noticed that exactly. I wish our futures were in the hands of someone less bumbling. I hope that your employers are understanding to your situation and you aren’t forced to do go to work when you are nervous doing so. Let us know how things go.
Don’t know if anyone else is the same but my anxiety levels have risen sharply in 24 hrs. Worried about the most stupid things …now u can’t sleep and I’m convinced il have no food for Christmas day…my delivery won’t arrive and…well what can I say irrational thoughts .it’s the time of year and with the current uncertainty we are all going through this.
Good news knows what amazon will.make of a bag of Yorkshire tea bags 6 cans of soup and 8 packs of gluten free oatcakes. And a michael buble cd.
Yes @Hmc63, I think my emotions are on high alert anyway so any government announcement puts them into overdrive which is daft as I have been shielding since March and I wasn’t meeting up with anyone anyway.
Enjoy your Michael Buble cd played over and over again.
Is anyone else finding their emotions are all over the place?
Hello everyone. I entirely agree. My anxiety level has increased greatly especially with the talk of this variant strain and I am now in tier 4. I have to go to a podiatry appointment tomorrow regarding an ongoing potential toe infection. I am finding myself not wanting to go outside the front door at the moment. Thanks for listening.
Warm wishes to all. Willow X
Hi @Willow, sorry to hear about the potential toe infection.
Yes, our anxiety levels are heightened, like the our tiers.
Let us know how it is for you with your appointment tomorrow.
Has anyone else found their anxiety levels are heightened?
How did you get on at your last appointment?
Hi @Willow. Does anything help to reduce your anxiety?
When we have too much time it’s easy to worry about the silliest of things isn’t it. You’re not alone x
Hi @Nichola75. Thank you so much for asking. Several things help with my anxiety … prayer, talking to my therapist, writing in a journal, and finding a friend who can take me to appointments wherever possible, rather than using a taxi. I feel using a taxi at the moment probably puts me at greater risk of COVID. Thank you everyone on this forum for their support. Warm wishes. Willow
Morning @Willow. I like reading about others strategies as I always feel there is something I could give a try. After reading this, it’s reminded me that I have to improve at journaling it’s something that really helped in the past so thanks for reminding me. I’m hoping one of your friends may be able to help with your shopping delivery too? Can the hospital support with transport as well or has that all changed because of tier 4 restrictions? It impacts so many things doesn’t it!
Thank you @Nichola75 for your suggestions. I have always decided against hospital transport as there is so much waiting around and I prefer to get home as soon as the appointment is over. Also, I think travelling with other patients would be rather risky these days. I have good friends willing to help, plus a reliable local taxi firm as an alternative. Warm wishes. Willow
Glad you have lots of friends around you x
I am in remission from Myeloma but feel worse than I did when I was in treatment when I felt almost back to normal.
I struggle to get out of bed in a morning, not physically, but mentally. I have to force myself to do things throughout the day. I feel better as the day goes on and by the time I go to bed I feel fine. I wake a lot during the night due to an on going bladder condition but mostly go back to sleep straight away. If I do lie awake at all, I feel that I could get up and do lots of things but by morning, I feel lethargic again.
I am wondering if I am suffering from a form of depression, which given the current situation may not be surprising. Does anyone else feel like this? There are so many people much worse off than me.
Yes - I feel exactly the same. Lack of sleep also contributes. You do sound a little down and I think lots of us will be able to relate to that, especially in these extra challenging times! have accessed a counsellor through the hospital. Is this something you would consider? I know it’s not for everybody but the fact the you are acknowledging that you feel low is the first step. I would also suggest contacting you GP as well. Why don’t you give the blood cancer support line a ring to. You will be able to talk things through. Have you got a good support system shoring you? In the meantime keep sharing and posting. I think lots of people feel the same as you and you are being really brave talking about it! X
Hi Chrissy, I do not know if you are depressed or not, but what I do know is that we all also have this scary Covid year to contend with and add into the mix. I know my emotions have been so all over the place and I can burst into tears at nothing. I am definitely cannot deal with what personally stresses me well. I have less to remember and get more stressed about it.
I have made sure I go to bed at about the same time every night and get up at the same time in the morning and I I try to keep structure in my day, although I never achieve what I hope to.
And yes, there are so, so many people with so much more to contend with than me, I realise how lucky I am, but I also need the support of this forum because I can say what it is really like to be me here.
What are others experiences?
@Chrissy we hope you’re okay, it does sound like you’re going through a lot right now. And our other lovely forum members have made some really good suggestions for further support; such as support on here, our support line and talking to your GP. We do really encourage you to keep reaching out.
We also just wanted to let anyone know who might not have seen this already, we have updated our shielding guidance webpages in light of all the updates in the last week: Coronavirus: support for people with blood cancer | Blood Cancer UK and we have information for all four nations. We hope this is helpful to you all, but of course, any questions- do let us know!
Hi @Chrissy. How have you been feeling in yourself over the last few days?
Hi chrissy, I can totally relate to what your saying. My anxiety has been awful these last few months and I too am sleeping badly, which then I feel so lethargic in the mornings but then feel better as the day goes on. I too wake up numerous times for the toilet during the night which doesn’t help. I don’t feel tearful but a little on the low side but thats to be expected. Weather doesn’t help either. Its dark and wet here in Lincolnshire. I’m currently waiting for a laptop so I can actually do some work from home but in the meantime I have no routine and I’m just going with it for now. Take care.
Hi @Emmaco it sounds as if you have been going through a tough time and I think you are right it is a combination of things.
We are here to support you and if you would like to talk to someone you can contact our Support Services Team on 0808 2080 888 (10am-7pm Monday-Friday, and 10am-1pm Saturday and Sunday) or via email at support@bloodcancer.org.uk.
Please keep posting how you are and I hope the laptop arrives soon.
