Hi
My husband has recently had a bone marrow biopsy for possible myeloma . He hasn’t got another appointment till early July but haemotology have sent him an appointment for a ct scan of most of his body next week . Am I jumping the gun thinking his diagnosis is confirmed & they just want to see how much bone damage he has ? Could there be another reason that isn’t sinister ? I’m really worried
Hi @Croggler I am so glad that you have found us, it sounds as if it is a worrying time for you both.
Personally I find waiting and not knowing is scary and my mind does overtime.
I know I have just had multiple tests for another unconnected condition that I have, including a couple of CT scans.
All tests are to rule conditions in or out, and in my book the more tests the better, blood cancers especially have very generic symptoms and we are very complex beings.
I notice you say ‘possible’ myeloma.
It is easy for me to say don’t think what it could or could not be, we are human.
I could turn things around and say if his team were really worried they would not leave his appointment till early July, I am afraid it is just a waiting game
We are here for you both, this is the one place where I can be really honest about how I am thinking and feeling.
Please do use us.
Now is the time that you can both write down all the questions that you would like to ask at your next appointment.
Look after and be very kind to yourselves and please do keep posting
Thankyou so much for your kind words . We have both never been in this position before & need to know yesterday
.
Thankyou again , I hope you go on ok with your tests
Hi there
I’m linking you tests from myeloma uk
There is a section on imaging
Thanks so much for your help , I appreciate it
I was diagnosed before having any imaging from my blood tests and bone marrow biopsy and was sent to CT and MRI to look at damage to bones kidneys
All the test being done for hubby will confirm together where he goes from here
Thanks for your reply . I think it’s odd on he has it then or they wouldn’t be having a ct
Can I ask how you are on the whole ? It’s all very scary
I would say it good that he is being scanned He may not have any issues at all.
It will give a good overall picture so hang on in there for now.
There are a few things to look at before being given a diagnosis
I’m doing great I’m 7 years in living with my myeloma I was 49 at diagnosis
Thanks for that , it’s so overwhelming but you will know all about that … That’s brilliant news you are great ! Long may it reign
It is overwhelming as the mind runs wild
Try and focus on the here and now
We are all here for you
Treat yourselves to a coffee and cake or a little walk or whatever you enjoy doing
