Hi, I’m new to this so apologies if I don’t use or know the correct terminolgy. I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia at the beginning of August '23 after a year of blood tests not being ‘quite right?’ I’m a 60 year old Female. In 2009 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Breast Cancer and finished treatment for that mid-way through 2018. It took me a few years to get my mojo back after that but I had really started to do well over the past year except every time I had a blood test it wasn’t ‘quiet right’. I was referred to a haematologist who did a bone marrow test and I was sure I was going to be told I was anemic or something easy to deal with. A month later she told me I had Chronic myeloid leukaemia and referred me to another specialist. I started on Imatinib 400mg on 6th Oct and I am taking it in conjunction with Allopurinol and since then I don’t know how I’m going to feel from day to day. I have a little queasiness, I’m exhausted, I have a constant ‘wobble’ in my core and I’ve had a few bad headaches, pain in my sternum and lower rib cage, and food does not taste right. I haven’t been able to go to work and the way I feel now I can’t imagine when I will be able to return to work. So I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience of Chronic myeloid leukaemia, Imatinib, Allllopurinol - side effects and when fit to get back to work etc. Thank you.

Hi @Moainm I am so glad that you have posted on our forum.
Gosh you have gone trough the mill over the years.
Perhaps your medical team are the best ones to answer your very valid questions as they know you and your whole medical history.
They might also have some ideas to help with your symptoms as well.
Perhaps stress the impact that they are having on your life.
Others may be able to share their individual personal experiences.
Please do let us know how you get on and really look after yourself, those symptoms sound miserable to me.
