Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone else with non Hodgkin’s lymphoma finds that after they have an infection it takes them a lot longer to bounce back? I feel like I’ve been unwell for over a month now and not seeing much improvement
Hi @Adman. I have follicular lymphoma. I haven’t noticed that with me but I imagine it depends on the stage and where you are in your journey.
Have you been able to discuss this with your medical team. I’d suggest keeping a note of everything or any changes in your health so that you can talk about it if you are worried.
Like @Nichola75 says worth a mention to your team. I suppose it takes slightly longer to recover now and I get everything that is going around ……whereas I never ever used to be sick. EVER!
Two weeks ago I picked up covid for the third time and despite being around my whole family no one else got it from me. Thankfully.
Hi @Adman Personally I think most of us with blood cancers (and other conditions) find that if we get an infection, with our immune systems, it takes us longer to ‘recharge our batteries’, however after the bank holidays if you are not feeling better perhaps contact your GP or medical team with your diary of events.
Obviously if you feel worse in the meantime contact 111, go to A&E or contact your Haematology department
Please do let us know how you get on and look after yourself
Yes takes ages in my experience.
I got ill the week before christmas, thought I had got over it as Xmas day and Boxing Day was all good, then went down hill again, ended up having tests at QE Brum to check all was okay. Nothing found which is good but then still took me another 2 weeks to get over it.
It does feel like it takes ages, I am worse in winter as well, other times of the year if I get poorly I see to bounce back quicker but winter is much longer, and easier to get ill.
Hope you are recovering well now
Adam
