Second round of treatment - how did it go?

Hi all,

My lovely Dad was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) in November 24 and has had one round of treatment. He coped well but needed all sorts of transfusions and intravenous potassium, magnesium, phosphates, anti-sickness and more. He did also develop AKI level 1 which has since resolved. He came home on Christmas Eve after 7 long weeks in hospital. He will be going back in for his second round next week. He is on a combination of drugs - 10 days of chemo injections (low dose Cytarabine) and 28 days of targeted therapy drugs (Venclyxto). He is really hoping to be able to come home after the 10 days of chemo. Has anyone had this happen before in that you completed the first round completely in hospital but the second and/or subsequent rounds partially or fully at home? Thank you. Jo

Oh @Jthom a great big welcome to our forum, I am glad you have found us.
I hope someone might be able to share their experiences.
However we are also very unique people with individual medical histories and, although I am not a medical person, believe that our medical teams take a lot of different aspects into account as to how and where people have treatment or not.
Perhaps see if you can work with your dad to write down all his, or both of your fears, questions and practicalities and ask his nurse or medical team the issues you are looking for answers to.
Please do let us know how you get on and look after yourselves
