Thanks Erica.
A visiting ‘mass vacination crew’ are stumped if they have insufficient data.

If you invite that round of treatment for 75+ or the immunosuppressed then surely they should be prepared for needing a wider knowledge of illnesses than the ‘general’ populous?

What vetting on ‘justifiable’ self applied bookings are made?

Thanks again :syringe::syringe::syringe:

I have WM and on ‘active monitoring’. Had my vaccination a few weeks ago, only aged 69, without a problem. I think our GP-managed centre is very good . . . know the eligibility criteria and very organised. According to ALL government guidance, anyone with blood cancer (treatment or not) is eligible for this Spring booster programme.

The whole vaccination programme is ‘contracted out’ but as I understand it, all centres/pharmacies etc. have to use the NHS database to determine eligibility, so you should be able to get an appointment and not be turned away.

Good Afternoon @Erica, I was just wondering how you got on with your booster last week, and hoping that you didn’t suffer any similar after effects to the ones that I endured.

Keep smiling and take care of yourself, along with all of your Forum Support Volunteers.

Afternoon All, hope everyone is as well as they can be.
I was wondering if Blood Cancer UK has had any information with regards to an Autumn Booster campaign now that the World Health Organisation has deemed that Covid is no longer a Global Emergency.

To the best of my knowledge my Immune System hasn’t resumed its “pre-ET” power and therefore I assume that I am still one of the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable people.

The future is already “uncertain” for us in so many ways; this just feels like another obstacle for us to face with our limited stamina.

Best wishes to all of you and remember to keep on smiling.

Hi @beverleyanny,
Glad you responded to my post and verified what I thought. I posted because I was concerned that some Vaccinators might be interpreting the rules incorrectly (like the one at the centre I visited) and some of those with blood cancer, but on ‘watch and wait’ regimes might be turned away.

Hi @Jimbo165 I will copy yourpost to Blood Cancer UK for you @BloodCancerUK

Hi @Jimbo165 I am absolutely fine after my booster vaccine, thank you, I took my paperwork with me and the system worked very smoothly and efficiently.
I’m still smiling, although I have eaten too much of the wrong type of foods at our Estates Coronation lunch today !!.

Hello there @Jimbo165

To our knowledge there will be Autumn booster campaign for the most vulnerable, we mention this in our COVID vaccination information here:
Covid vaccine for people with blood cancer | Blood Cancer UK

Autumn boosters 2023

The government has confirmed there will also be an Autumn 2023 booster campaign. We expect this to be similar to the Spring booster campaign, although we haven’t got the details yet.

As you will read there are no dates as yet and we will of course update all of our community when we have more information.

Kind regards
Gemma

Hi @GemmaBloodCancerUK, and thank you for getting back to me on this matter, along with @Erica for her help too.
It is all yet another pressure to add to the many that we are all living with but, such is life.

I’m not sure if I have “missed” a jab as my latest one, in April 23, was my 5th, but I see that many others on the forum are booking their 7th now. Do you know, with your greater knowledge, if ET sufferers should have had 5 or 6 jabs by now?

Best Wishes,

Jimbo165

Hello @Jimbo165
Here is the infographic that shows where blood cancer patients should be up to by the end of 2022

It would be that you, as a patient with ET, could have received 6 doses by now and that the Spring Booster would be your 7th. If you have missed any doses that is likely due to communication and timings but really glad to hear that you’ve had one in April.
We will keep you updated on future vaccinations.
Kind regards
Gemma

Good news for me! As my appointment for my Covid jab got close my GP contacted me and there were jabs being done nearer to home so I was able to cancel the appointment several miles away and just pop into town. Excellent.
