Please find below information about the SUPERNOVA trial.
The ongoing SUPERNOVA Study is looking for people with weakened immune systems, such as people with blood cancer, to take part. The study is investigating to see if a drug can help protect people with weakened immune systems from contracting COVID-19. This drug is known as a pre exposure prophylactic medicine.
Thanks, @Alice_BloodCancerUK. Have emailed my nearest centre to see if I’d be any good for the trial. It’s where I had most of my treatment, so it would be nice to be able to help.
Hi Alice, I have just tried to contact the Liverpool centre about this but the email address supplied has been rejected by my email, is there an alternative contact or phone number please
Hello @Janet , thank you for flagging. It appears there might be a typo in the document, you can find the contact details (phone number and email address) for the Royal Liverpool Hospital, Prescott St, Liverpool L7 8XP, here: Contact - NIHR Liverpool Clinical Research Facility. Hope this helps.
Hi, just an update n the Supernova trial. I was accepted on the trial but starting was delayed until 3 months after my last Covid booster jab. By the time I was available it turns out, certainly at Royal Liverpool Hospital, the trial protocol had changed. Originally the paperwork said I would receive either the trial drug or Evushield injections. Now I would receive the trial drug or just a placebo. They confirmed that I was at risk of having the placebo shots and so no protection from Covid. As someone classed as immunosuppressant due to taking HU I regretfully felt I had to withdraw from the trial. A great shame as I believe in joining trials where I possibly can, it would have been so interesting. Disappointed
Janet
Oh, @Janet you must be disappointed after all the run up to the trial.
It is a shame but it seems as if you have made a considered choice to withdraw.
Please do keep posting and really look after yourself
