The Friday Forum Jukebox Club!

Thanks for sharing your words @Nichola75

So my two choices have a Scottish theme to them.

For Reunited here’s a track by Skerryvore called Together Again which I think was a post COVID release.

For Road Trip I’ve got to go for Homeward Bound by Tidelines. Their album Glasgow Love Story was released when I was in for Bone Marrow Transplant last April.

We played this track when we were about 5 miles from home day of discharge after a journey of nearly 6 hours

Hope you enjoy

Great cover of Peaches and Herb! I was really loving it but (apologies for not knowing the singer in the red jacket’s name) when he went for it and got a bit growly, my crazy dog decided to join in and I couldn’t hear a thing!

Great second choice too!

@Spangleystar haha that is Mike Patton and he does go from crooner to opera singer to growling really fast. Hope your dog wasn’t too freaked out :joy:

Massive thanks to you all today. Fridays have gone from being my lowest point of the week (due to dexamethasone crash) to the highest thanks to you all on this lovely forum and all of the incredible music xx

Ha @Spangleystar my links often seem to malfunction, maybe it’s a US/UK licensing thing  It’s so cool that you’re enjoying the jukebox!

Love that you’ve seen First Aid Kit live @Ceri_BloodCancerUK, their melodies are so beautiful to me! Incredible to think they were Swedish teens sharing their folk covers online and now they’re making this lush melodic Americana with perfect US accents!

I’d say more but I’m about to see the Peaky Blinders film in an actual cinema! Maybe we need a watch-along film club too?!

Forgot to say @Spangleystar, I love The Sundays. Are we showing our ages?! Her voice reminds me a little of the singer from Cranes. You may already like the earlier stuff by Icelandic band múm, another fave. Ahh music, what would we do without it?!

Ha for a moment @Barry1 I thought you had shared something by Peaches

Thank you for these amazing moments too dear @Willow, that Fleetwood Mac breakup album is a favourite, and I need more Roberta in my life :mirror_ball: I hadn’t heard that Elvis song @Erica! It’s so funny to hear him singing about his travels to California! I like to imagine you enjoying it here too :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

See you all here next week, what a great week of music!

It’s the Oscars this weekend and sad as it may sound but I love how they cap off the film awards season. Watching films has been such a constant comfort. Believe me, I never thought I’d live in such close proximity to where a lot of this stuff is created!!!

I’ve been lucky to see a few of this year’s nominations and cannot wait to watch live all the ridiculous pomp and ceremony of what wins. I’m not a betting person but I especially loved One Battle After Another and Train Dreams, what about you?

Anyway, how about for this week’s jukebox songs some FILM and AWARDS?

Excellent word and track choices @Duncan

The first one that came to mind was from Baz Luhrman’s 96 FILM Romeo & Juliet. That film is so opulent I sink into it and can only ever watch it solo to avoid distractions, it’s my Christmas Day, the calm before the storm moment -when no-one else is up - bliss!

The track is the amazing ‘Exit music for a film’ by Radiohead https://youtu.be/gZxyT_uB__4

Change of genre for AWARDS, but this next one won a couple of Grammy’s and an Oscar, and is also from an amazing semi-autobiographical film, starring Eminem. I love 8 mile as it captures the grit and growth required to make it in hiphop especially as a white boy.

Eminem’s track Lose Yourself is about locking in, digging deep and not missing your shot. It not only captures the perfect moment in the film but serves as inspiration for winning in life! https://youtu.be/xFYQQPAOz7Y?si=CSb65meSebM1-76P

Apologies there may be a touch of bad language though - hope you enjoy xx

Aw yes to any and all Radiohead, music to my ears @Spangleystar. Do you also like The Smile? They’re 2/5 of Radiohead!
