Anyone aged 12+ with blood cancer or immunosuppression should have another booster dose of the vaccine in Spring 2022. This should be your fifth vaccine dose. The covid vaccine schedule for blood cancer patients has been:
1st primary dose – from around Jan 2021
2nd primary dose – from around April 2021
3rd primary dose – from around September 2021
4th dose (1st booster) – from around January 2022
5th dose (Spring booster) – from around April 2022
There is no guidance to have the COVID vaccines every 3 months but as you mentioned it has been announced that a 6th COVID vaccine will be available for the immunosuppressed in the Autumn along with the Flu vaccine. As this was only announced on Friday afternoon we are yet to have the details. We will be in contact with the NHS this week to ask the plan in terms of date of roll out, vaccine types and how it is communicated to our community.
We will, as ever, update our webpages and social media as soon as we hear.
It will be interesting to see what vaccine is offered as the most recently announced rushed through one that covers Omicron hasn’t been tested on the immunocompromised. Also seems a very small test sample.
Of course the ideal option would be Evusheld which is proved to work but minority groups are ignored by politicians as usual.
“Immunocompromised individuals
The efficacy and safety of the vaccine has not been assessed in immunocompromised individuals, including those receiving immunosuppressant therapy. The efficacy of Spikevax bivalent Original / Omicron may be lower in immunocompromised individuals.”
While we are being denied Evusheld that has good results
There is more to this than we are being told
The government are not being transparent
I can understand wanting more testing for Evusheld yet we will be told to get boosted for a vaccine that has no efficacy and safety assessment
Dear @2DB,
Thank you for your post and the issues you raise are being discussed and relayed by our COVID steering group to the NHS, DOH and Government. We await feedback regarding the decision making process on Evusheld and will be sure to inform all the community once we hear back.
Many thanks
Gemma

Duration of protection
The duration of protection afforded by the vaccine is unknown as it is still being determined by ongoing clinical trials.???
