Autumn COVID Vaccine

It’s a while since I posted on the site, June I think. I was expecting to start Calquence treatment in July but when my case was discussed at the MDT meeting, it decided I didn’t need to start treatment yet. The MDT did discuss the leg ain issue I’ve had for several months, and referred me for an MRI of my sacral lumber region. The findings show problems at 3 levels. Anyway, that’s not why I’m posting today. I saw my Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) consultant for a routine appointment on Wednesday last week. After bloods and physical examination and no B symptoms, he cleared me to remain on Watch and Wait, and to see him again in 6 months. I had my flu and COVID vaccines yesterday. No sign of any side effects at all around the site of either injection. However, around midday today I’m feeling a swelling of the lymph nodes in me left groin. Not painful, just swollen. The COVID vaccine Comirnaty JN.1 30micrograms. The vaccine leaflet I was given, states that enlarged lymph nodes are a common side effect of this vaccine. Just wondering if other people with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) have had a similar experience. It’s Sunday evening, so I’ll see what things are like tomorrow and if no change,I’ll call my Nurse specialist.

Hi @Horsetrent so a lot going on since June for you.
I am a Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)’er and have not had my vaccines yet, I am having them in about 2 weeks so I cannot help you, I hope others can with Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) or any blood cancer.
My husband, who does not have blood cancer, had both of his on Friday with no side effects.
Perhaps you have a good plan for tomorrow.
It might help to have the leaflet to hand in case your Nurse Specialist wants you to read exactly what it says to her.
Please do let us know how you get on, and look after yourself.

Hi
I had my Covid and flu booster 10 days ago. I was not too good for 3-4 days(shivers/aches etc) also I had swollen lymph nodes in my armpits which are still slightly swollen but definitely going down.
Hope you are better soon.

Hi @Anne60 I like to call it active monitoring, but it is all the same
Be very kind to yourself I still get anxious before and during all tests, results and appointments

I am just coming out of a Stem Cell Transplant due to aggressive Mycosis Fungoides T Cell Lymphoma and I was wondering about vaccines against COVID and Flu and will ask the doctor about this tomorrow.Another is RSV(Respiratory Syncytial Virus)which has a vaccine. The 4th player in this respiratory illness field is the Common Cold but there is no vaccine against the Rhinovirus ones which are about 70 percent of them and some debate if the COVID vaccine offers any protection against the related Coronavirus ones.RSV and Common Cold are generally mild but maybe not for damaged immune systems?

Hi @Kevan7 it sounds as if you have some good questions for your doctor tomorrow.
I need to write all my questions down before my appointments otherwise I forget them.
Please do let us know the answers you get.
Look after and be very kind to yourself, you and your body have been through a lot.
