So diagnosed with Chronic myeloid leukaemia start of August spent a week in hospital having treatment. On imatimib for two weeks then off for three weeks because blood count were to low.
Blood tests a bit up and down since then but Wed had phone call from consultant telling me my results were BRILLIANT from blood test on Tuesday just have to wait for results from BCR to come in in the next couple of weeks hopefully things are starting to settle down now. Consultant said all being good i wont need to see her for 3 months. At the moment its the best i have felt for months both physically and mentally. Exercising well also plenty of walking and time on my turbo trainer.
These few months have been pretty tough at times but hopefully now the lights getting brighter at the end of the tunnel
Hi @Spen68 thanks so much for your update and your good news, you have made my day.
Yes, I expect the last few months have been tough.
It sounds as if you are looking at your fitness too. I am also a walker and I find it helps me emotionally and mentally as well. It is also the perfect occupation if you are nosey like me!!
I think a turbo trainer is a step too far for me.
Please do keep posting how you are and really look after yourself.
Hi #Spen68 - just a quick message to say WELL DONE YOU ! It’s not easy going through all that nasty stuff, so I’m really pleased to hear that all is working out perfectly ! Keep up the exercise - it worked miracles for me and helped me feel and be my normal self after lazing around in hospital for so long !! But take it slowly - it took me ages to return to pre-diagnosis fitness levels. Keep up the good work and the good news !
Hi Quentin
Thanks for your message have been missing the outside world going out cycling but happy to use turbo this time of year saves getting cold and wet. The only issue I have at moment with the Imatimib is achy ribs at times which is slowly improving and a bit of a gurgling stomach. I know I’m still quite new to the medication so was expecting something, my consultant told me that when my body is more use to it this should get less. Stay healthy
