Hi all, my husband is in remission at the moment from apml. He seems to have had cold virus after cold virus recently. Is anyone else experiencing this? I panic every time as his acute leukaemia began like cold/flu……thank you

Hi @Catpat I have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) but my weakened immune system means I am very susceptible to all colds, flu, Covid etc… Personally I keep all my vaccines up to date.
Also once I get one bug my immune systems is weakened and I get more susceptible to everything that is going and it takes me a long while to build back up.
I stress these are just my personal experiences and I would always say perhaps it is worth him checking things out with his specialist nurse, GP or consultant.
It certainly is a rollercoaster of emotions for both of you isn’t it.

Thanks for the reply Erica, my husband did get his bloods checked a few weeks ago and they come back fine……you are probably right in what you are saying. He had covid around end of October/November and has had a few cold type virus since so maybe his immune system is even more compromised since covid. It is a roller coaster for all of us on here. I don’t like roller coasters lol….hope you are doing ok. You are very helpful to everyone else on this forum but I don’t think you have ever asked for help yourself. Take care

Hi,i feel the same. Ive just got over being hospitalised at xmas with the flue and this week caught a cold. It can be demoralising .

Oh John I am sorry to hear that. I hope you are on the road to recovery now…. We will maybe need to cut back on socialising again for a while until immune system recovers a bit! I panic a lot so it’s great to chat to other people on here so thank you for replying.
