I find Man City really boring to watch. I like Halaand and grealish but I find though their build play is good and they have great players, there is just something that I find really easy to switch off

It maybe because they are expected to win everyone they play so only exciting and surprising when they don’t

Well we’ll agree to differ I’d never call City boring. At the moment they might as well be playing against a brick wall, they have all the flare in the World, but Inter are giving a masterclass in defending. City got past Everton, so Inter is easier :joy:

Have to be honest everyone I don’t think I would be “busting a gut” to bring Lukaku back to Everton on this evidence anyway

Man City win! We’ll now have a solid week or more of analysis debate and crap. Bring back Norman Hunter, ‘chopper’ Harris and co. When they tackled players went down for a reason and not to cheat!
Now for all the enquiries on fair play payment and state sponsored teams. Super league by the backdoor?
And I’m not bitter or jealous. Just like an even playing league.

Obviously I am full of admiration for City, however I do take your point Ian.

Even FFP is not fair. How can “smaller teams” competition be increased from teams that finish in the lower end of the table, infact even 10th 9th 8th & 7th struggle to break the “usual suspects”

My feeling is that the top 5 will be at least the same teams next season. Mabye Villa might get in the top5?
Oh yes Financial Fair Play, in laymans terms means that you can only spend what you earn. Ok good in theory, but if a team finished 12th and was taken over by a billionaire how could they make a difference?
Because Man U will make more £££ than 12th place, therefore will still have more spending power & this is financial fair play??

No doubt someone will mention Newcastle, perhaps they are an exception to the rule.
Cleaver management can make a difference eg Newcastle & Villa, but these are just two teams from an entire division
Is financial fair play actually fair?

Laws will always be made, and people will be hired to find loop holes. This is not just in football.

Fair play to Man City, for a club deep rich in history and a story they hit the jackpot and did what they have always set out to do!

I think there is always going to be controversy and envy and jealously. I guess it’s just part and parcel of being a fan!

Unfortunately am an Inter Milan fan, so it was a painful day for me on Saturday! (There’s not
Many of us haha)

The amazing thing I got to take away was that dad was well enough to come and watch the final with me - first time he’d spent an evening with me just the two of us since his diagnosis of ALL in December 22. Meant more to me than any win the CL could’ve given.

Hopefully Inter can come again, but City did win the actual game fair and square! Lukaku’s Miss will haunt my dreams forever…

Yes, Hi All, well played and a deserved win and treble for Man City.
Sorry, I got a bit side tracked by the Le Mans 24 hr as my son was out there watching that, he goes every year it is on.
Sorry @MazB so near, but so far, but so pleased your dad was well enough to go with you and you could spend some very special dad/son time together, priceless.

@MazB welcome to the group, always nice to get a supporter of a different team from another country as well.
It must of been nice to watch a game with your Dad, I wish him well. I know someone who survived apml twice with other long term illness, so just tell him to be positive!
Yes it’s a shame someone had to loose, your team will come again after all you have a great team that have won the double in Italy.
Not surprisingly as an Everton fan my first question is what sort of season has Lukaku had? Yes I was surprised he missed that chance.
In the Good old days, we were always taught its your domestic league that is paramount, but has the Champions League become priority?

Hope your son enjoyed it Erica!

Is it something you like as well?

Thank you again for your words - means a lot.

Thank you! It really was - he’s Scottish and doesn’t actually support anyone, he’s just into good football but loved watching the game with him. We kept laughing as everything we said was repeated in commentary - maybe a new career in the works ha!

Ah an Everton fan! I’m so glad you beat the drop this year. Always been a fan - seem like a real honest club, with a rich history!

Lukaku’s season was a funny one really… he came back after regretting forcing through his move to Chelsea. Started the first couple of games well but was then injured until February time. He was eased back and hit form in April - has been on fire! Who knows if he’ll stay, depends on Chelsea and his salary demands!

As for priorities - most clubs in Italy prioritise domestic trophies and simply qualifying for Europe. We don’t have the financial resources to compete with English teams, or the elite (Bayern + Spanish teams). But this year was a dream / luck of the round of 16 draw, but beating AC Milan in the semi final will forever live in my memory! Much like beating Liverpool for you - means that bit more!

Indeed, unless I’m living in the past I thought Italy were one of the rich boy’s
If I named a 20 team super league there would be at least 5 Italian teams

Rich in terms of history, and prestige! But revenue and spending power doesn’t match up anymore it pains me to say!

Nottingham Forest spent more than last season’s winners - AC Milan in the summer! The TV deal in England is truly amazing. The way the PL sells itself is second to none. Also has the best infrastructure in the world - stadiums are new, or at least owned outright.

San Siro is owned by the local council, meaning that Inter and AC Milan don’t make anywhere near as much as other teams - a shame but a harsh reality.

As this is a a football discussion group, it would be a good idea if sponsors could be found or financial assistance to help put on a charity football match celebrating 10 years of World Blood Cancer Day. The only thing I understand that in times of fiancial difficulty, 150 million was found for The Kings Coronation?! Why can’t more money be found to research etc?!
PEOPLE SHOULD REALISE OUT THERE ITS THE BIG TEN 2024

It’s not what I want, but it’s happened/happening and will highlight the awful running of the club.

I believe you obviously, but Im surprised. A rich history yes, but in addition I thought more money would be generated in Seiri A since euro 2020* victory.
