Hodgkins Lymphoma and Covid and anti virals

Hello everyone. I was diagnosed with HL in April and have just finished the first round of 6 cycles of treatment and await my Pet scan late November. My tumour has reduced from 6 to 4 cm but the consultant doesn’t think it has reduced since Aug ( Ct scan indicated this.) Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and whether they needed more chemo or were able to have radiotherapy? Would be interested to hear from members of the forum who have HL.
In addition, have just tested positive for covid but at the moment don’t feel like I have any symptoms. The hospital have given me the anti viral paxlovid and am wondering if anyone else has taken this? Not sure if I should take it as currently I dont feel that unwell. Side effects seem to be interesting. Any thoughts from.anyone who has taken the drug?

Hi @GerM and a great big welcome to our forum, it is great that you have found us.
I hope others will be able to share their experiences for you, although we are very unique human beings with unique medical histories.
I will copy your post to the Blood Cancer UK nurses @BloodCancerUK_Nurses for you
Perhaps you need to talk to your medical team about all your questions.
Do you have a Specialist nurse contact, they are often a good contact point.
Please do let us know how you get on and be very kind to yourself

Hello @GerM,

Welcome to our forum and thank you for your post. Hopefully some of our lovely members will post soon about their own experiences with HL and treatment but if you would like to discuss in further, our support nurses are available to chat over our free support line on 0808 2080 888.

I am sorry to hear you have tested positive for covid. It is reassuring that you are not feeling that unwell however anti viral medicines aim to stop covid becoming severe and to prevent hospitalisation or serious illness in those most at risk. I have enclosed a link to our webpage on Blood Cancer and Antiviral Treatment I would also suggest discussing with your haematology specialist nurse if you have one or if not, your haematology team as you have only just finished your chemotherapy treatment.

Let us know how you get on with your PET scan
Take care
Fiona ( Support Services Nurse)
