Masks, Social Distancing etc - How are we all feeling about total lifting of restictions?

Im in total agreement with what you say about being forgotten about and im so sick and tired of knowing whats important to “healthy people” and thats getting back to normal , do people not know the world has changed and so should we all.
Everyone needs to be aware this virus is with us all until there’s a cure so until then please look after yourself as in turn it looks after me.

I had Hodgkins lymphoma over 12 years ago and im classed as a CEV person still as i still have a compromised immune system and i know full well that i will protect myself so i protect you all ( shame others dont think this way).

There should be no talk of releasing restrictions until people stop dying!! Simple

I understand your frustration with masks BUT, They are saving lives period!!!.

I do feel that i miss peoples expression so i wear the clear window types so this is good for all types of disabilities.

Wear a mask or shield to save yours and others lives.

Totally agree with you however made to feel a bit of a pariah within some of my friends and acquaintances. I still haven’t mixed indoors.

I totally agree with you. I have noticed that few people are wearing masks now even in supermarkets. It scares me.

Why do you feel the need to wear clear types? I understand they are saving lives. There arnt many people that wear the clear masks and the NHS will only accept them in certain trusts, mine not being one of them sadly .

Hi @Belinda I have had pressure put upon me by some friends but that just makes me feel I will do things when I want to, but it hurts as well. Made to feel like a pariah within some of your friends does not sound nice and caring to me, can you tell us more?

None of this is helped by idiots like Neil Oliver writing rubbish about “lockdown being the biggest disaster in history” in the Herald and in his position as a presenter for GB “News”. Sir Tom Devine did a brilliant letter to the Herald skewering Oliver and the coverage he gets, but the audience for that odious pseudo-news channel will still use this sort of thing to mock, or worse, those of us who will continue to wear masks. For friends who have a modicum of intelligence, mentioning the potential absence of immunity even after vaccination does seem to satisfy them, but it still leaves a residue who never willingly wore masks and will abandon them as soon as we are proclaimed as “out of lockdown”. Angry letter trying to debunk Oliver using the latest stuff from the Lancet produced a response claiming to have better evidence! But at least the Herald published the bit in my letter about Oliver’s “preening and hair-flicking”!

Hi @DickM, I haven’t looked at this GB news channel or the Herald yet, take care.

These are my thoughts…
I have a compromised immune system due to blood cancer, and I am on permanent low dose chemo, I don’t suppose I have much protection, if any,
but I will be ditching the mask , and living my life as quickly as the restrictions lift.
I believe it’s time to learn to live with this, like we do with other illnesses, yes, some of us will succumb, and it could well be me, but better that, than a life lived in fear or worry or isolated.
Those people who want to continue to wear masks, and impose restrictions on themselves, are free to do so, but mine are going in the bin, at the earliest opportunity.

Hi @heatherthomas you go for it, I can understand your point of you, I have so many mixed thoughts and emotions around this and hopefully I will not be far behind you, but perhaps at a lower pace.
Please let us know how it is and feels.

Hi @Erica
I had my niece, her husband, and my great niece, who is 8, stay with us this weekend, Friday to Sunday - two households and 5 people - so within in the guidelines
we caught up with a lot of chat and homecooked food and drink
we went paddling in the sea, caught shrimp in the pools, skimmed stones, and played in the outside playpark, all no masks, and lots of hugs
I also taught how to make pompoms, and draw with a spirograph
… and was taught how to play sonic the hedgehog on an i-player
It was great

We are on holiday in Jersey where masks are no longer required by law in many places including shops. Still needed on public transport and inside the airport. We fell very safe here. Had a covid test when we arrived. Very fast and efficient and free. We have to reply to a daily text sent by the government saying we are well. The staff in our hotel are all wearing masks even though they don’t need to. The floors in public areas are marked out for social distancing. We are having a lovely time. It is so good to get away after all this time. I have no idea whether my 2 vaccines have worked. I had no antibodies after the first one but can’t carry on being locked away forever. I would happily have gone to Kos but it was cancelled so we are in Jersey instead.

I have asymptomatic Myeloma and obviously had to shield. I have recently started going to do shopping once a week when it’s not busy with my husband. I do feel anxious being out and near people especially when I see how lax some are now. We followed about a dozen people in Tesco the other week and not one sanitised their hands . I have had both my jabs and my hubby & I are still basically not mixing with anyone only our “childcare bubble” where we look after our 15month old grandson 2 days a week. My son & daughter-in-law both work from home and are keeping distance from others. We are doing the lateral flow tests every week as well. I do feel that we have been forgotten by the powers that be. We have decided that we will continue to wear masks and social distance for the foreseeable really. It’s not ideal but I just don’t want to take any risks especially since I don’t know if the vaccinations have had any affect.

Oh, @ilivesunshine it sounds like such a lovely safe haven in Jersey.
I would love to hear more about your holiday as I am living vicariously through others !!!
Stay safe and thanks for taking the time to update us whilst you are in Jersey on holiday.
Is anyone else on holiday somewhere?

Hi @Yvonne it sounds as if you are taking it sensibly.
It must be wonderful (and probably tiring !!) looking after your 15 mth old grandson who is probably wanting to explore everything now that he is getting vertically mobile.
I remember putting or hiding valuables 3 ft off the ground. Enjoy your special times.
I look forward to hearing from you again soon.

I’m awaiting my results from antibody test. Hoping it’s good news. I’ve got CLL on w&w. I’ll still be wearing my mask although don’t go in shops only local little shops.

Hi @Shelz, good to hear from you, please let us know how your antibody test are. I am still wearing my mask if I am in the vicinity of other humans.

Did you get your results?

Hello everyone. Just wondering how we are all feeling with the lifting of restrictions planned for 19 July? Some of my friends seem quite excited about the so called freedom that it will bring, but as far as I am concerned, I feel like I will have to be even more vigilant, especially as I am sure the number of Covid cases are bound to rise. Therefore, rather than looking forward to 19 July, I am thinking that it will restrict me even more in what I feel will be safe for me to do. How are others feeling? Thanks. Warm wishes. Willow
