Hi I am on 4 month blood test for Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS) .I didnt hear from the Surgery that anything had been noted I thought all was Ok till the next time.
However
When I got my results my HB has dropped significantly ,just out of range, I was lucky enough to get a phone appointment after the weekend
,so back today over 3 weeks later for a repeat full blood count plus Free Light Chain test as it wasnt done as the wrong button had been pressed on the computer . I give up.
So I am finding it doubly hard this time and I am hoping it is just a blip.
I sometimes get tired of listening to myself when I phone up for results or appointment.Anyone else feel the same
Oh @Bannanacake I cannot imagine what it can be like for you being doubly, and just not singly, anxious before, during and after your blood tests.
I absolutely hate ringing up my surgery because the message asks if it is an emergency.
Well, technically it isnβt, but that is the only way I can get through to talk to someone.
The system is now an online form to fill in, that asks questions which are not applicable to the situation.
I am lucky to live near to the surgery so I prefer going in to collect copies of my blood tests for my records and look at the results whilst I am there and then ask for an appointment to discuss them.
Waiting and not knowing is horrible, please do let us know how you get on.
Be ever so kind to yourself whilst you are waiting.
Hi @Erica thank you for your response and all I can say is it has been pretty grim waiting the extra time for my results.
I have been in and out from handling it to not handling it ,mainly because ive just got used to getting my results at 2 weeks then I can fill in my diary and "put it to bed "Just my coping strategy.
I think the thing is with Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS) is that there are so many variables in the different results going on in the various tests ,last time my Kappa and FLC results were up so this time Kappa is down and I expect FLC will be but you never know . In the meantime my Haemaglobin has gone back to what it was, goodness knows what that was all about.
I have a catch up with my Dr this week,so hopefully I will find out.I had a test for gastro bleeding but nothing detected so thats good .
I think its great that you have a regular thing going with your results.
It all changed at our Surgery and I think that is the problem. They used to be sent by e mail so was pretty quick ,now its whenever the Adim have "time to do it ",its all change there as the Staff who were there for past few years and who knew me really well have left so everyone has to get used to the changes .
My quietly assertive, as per @Erica sometimes works so its a fine line knowing when to ask not to ask .
