Ultra Sound result - significant abnormality alert

Hi all

I’ve had an enlarged nymph node in my neck for approx.4 months, plus extreme fatigue. Blood tests 12m ago revelaed I had severe anemia and I now have 12-weekly B12 shots and daily iron supplements.

Long story short I had a second US and FNA last week. The radiologist’s report states Significant abnormality alert. Does anyone know what this means? I’m waiting for the biopsy result but haven’t seen this term previously.

Thanks

Hi @ASH17 welcome to our forum.
Perhaps this is a good question to ask your specialist nurse, if you have one, or medical team.
I have had similar, not exactly the same alerts on my tests in the past.
I wonder if others have had a similar experience.
Please do let us know how you get on, look after and be very kind to yourself.

Hi @ASH17

Welcome to our forum, although I’m sorry for the reason you found us. I hope you find it a supportive place to share how you’re feeling during this time.

I can understand that you might be feeling alarmed by seeing a new term on a report as it can be worrying to see results that don’t make sense. I’ve consulted with our support services nurses and you really need to discuss it with your medical team because it can mean different things in different contexts and we’re not able to comment on test results here. Your medical team know your full case best and so are best placed to explain this. Do you have a meeting booked in to talk about your results? Or do you have a number you can call about the report?

I appreciate that the waiting can be so difficult when it comes to results. It’s easier said than done, but try and do things that help you relax until you have that appointment. If questions come up, write them down so that you remember when you do speak to your team.

Take good care of yourself,
Kind regards,
Ali
