Walk of Light 2025

Hi all,

The Walk of Light 2025 is now open for you to sign up to if you’re interested in taking part this year. We’ve had some great chats and photos on the forum previously when people here have decided to take part, so we wanted to let our community know about it again this year.

For anyone who isn’t aware of it, this is an annual fundraising event for Blood Cancer UK. You can join thousands of people across the country as we walk together on 29th March 2025 to fund vital blood cancer research. As the sun sets, we walk in memory of our loved ones. We walk to shine a ray of hope for someone as they face their darkest moments. We walk to light the path for a brighter future.

It’s free to take part, and you can join as a group or by yourself. You can choose your location, your route and how far you want to walk. If you’re interested, you can find out more and sign up here: Walk of Light 2025 charity walk | Blood Cancer UK

There is also a Facebook/ Meta group for supporters taking part, which isn’t essential if you’re not on social media, but is a place you can connect with others taking part Walk of Light | Facebook

If you are taking part, we’d love to hear more about it. What made you decide to take part? Are you walking with anyone? Please do feel free to share your stories below  :walking_woman: :walking_man:

I just wanted to also share Rob’s story about taking part…

Rob, his dad and two family members standing outside in the sunshine with their dog

Rob took on his own Walk of Light in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, in memory of his best friend Dimitri who sadly died from leukaemia and in support of his dad who is recovering in remission from blood cancer (diffuse large B cell lymphoma).

“Witnessing my own dad in treatment for an aggressive blood cancer threw our lives into turmoil. I’ve been fortunate to experience the ground-breaking treatment that kept my dad alive, so I know the difference that your money can make.”

Rob, a coach at St Ives Rangers, encouraged members of their footballing community to join them, also walking in memory of another young dad involved in St Ives Rangers who had sadly died from blood cancer.

Rob’s family (including his dad!), his friends and the football team raised over £2,500 for vital blood cancer research and can’t wait to take part again in 2025.
