I have had bilateral painful swelling an in my groin lymph nodes, when this happens I get sick with stomach pain, it is normally cleared up with antibiotics and the swellings go away. I have had scans blood tests and no doctor can give me an answer. I am now pushing for a biopsy as it isn’t normal to have painful swelling in your groin at random times. I have two auto immune disease diabetes and psoriasis, so my doctor was thinking it could be related to them and inflammation but I am not convinced. I am worried it is a type of lymphoma which is hard to spot or something along those lines. Has anyone had any kind of symptom like this when they swell up they feel like my hips are bruised and they swell to the size of a small Brazil nut
@Ryan89 a warm welcome to the forum, though I am so sorry you’re going through what sounds like a really worrying and uncertain time. It’s really good to hear that you’re being persistent with your healthcare team about getting this investigated. Have you spoken to them about your concerns around lymphoma?
You mentioned that you have had scans and blood tests - may I ask which ones you have had? In case it’s helpful at all, we have information around some of the key scans and tests used to rule out or confirm a blood cancer diagnosis, on this page of our website - https://bloodcancer.org.uk/understanding-blood-cancer/tests-diagnosis/blood-cancer-tests/
You may find it useful to refer to when speaking to your healthcare team.
Please do give us a call on 0808 2080 888 if you would like to chat this through with us, we are only a phone call away.
Hi @Ryan89, a great big welcome to our community forum. I cannot help you medically but you obviously have these painful symptoms so what I have learnt is that I have to sometimes be very persistent till I get an answer and make sure I keep a diary of events and times, relevant details etc… I have also found I need to make notes of questions I want to ask and to include my fears then perhaps they can be specifically tested for. @Alice_BloodCancerUK has given you great advice but take care and let us know how you get on.
Hello Alice
I have had a ultrasound of my nodes and a ct scan of my pelvis, I have also had blood tests checking white blood cell and red blood cell counts as well as inflammation markers. If there is anything else you think I should get done please let me know I am pushing for a biopsy so hopefully this will give me some answers.
Hi Ryan,
Hope you’ve been doing okay today? We hope also that the link above Alice shared with you was helpful. It’s so very understandable to have further questions about the tests you are having, why you’re having them and what such tests can rule out. In addition to the link Alice shared, we would also really encourage you to talk through with your doctor, about the tests you’re having in the context of your individual situation- including your questions about the bone marrow biopsy examination and possible reasons as to why they haven’t arranged for one up to this point. Has there been any opportunity to do this Ryan?
