Aww @Erica you sweetheart! I’m totally fine again and feel bad for making a fuss about merely spraining my back when you and @Willow and others are dealing with literal broken bones! Thank you for checking, that’s very sweet of you.
I’m very glad to read that you’ve been taking it easier. Please do report back when you’ve celebrated yourself properly, I love that you’re waiting till you’re in the right mood. Sending you a little cake of your choice and a fancy hot chocolate
Thank you @Erica and @Duncan for your kindness and understanding. Yes, I agree with you Erica, I am not feeling very favourable towards my new bathroom!! So sorry you had to walk so far today and then you missed the bus. I can’t imagine how painful it must be. Thank you for asking about a poem. I actually wrote this one almost five years ago around the time when my mother was being diagnosed with dementia and everything felt very scary and uncertain. There is a Chinese proverb that says something like … ‘it’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.’ I hope it is of encouragement.
JUST ONE CANDLE
A glimmer of hope
Is what we need
In our time of pain.
Just one candle
Bringing light
To cheer us once again.
Day after day
Things stay the same
With no end in sight.
These winter nights
Dark and cold
Longing for warm sunlight.
Our hearts break
With anguish
Beyond description.
How much longer
Must we wait
For hope of transformation?
Overwhelmed by
Grief and sadness
Loss and sorrow
Desperate for
The dawn to break
On a new tomorrow.
But … if we light
Just one candle
Darkness is dispelled.
Gazing on
That flickering flame
May our hearts be stilled.
Oh @Willow that is an absolutely beautiful poem, thanks so much for sharing it with us, I feel very honoured and it is exactly what I needed.
I shall go to sleep thinking about it tonight.
You have such a wonderful way with words.
All it takes is to light that one candle
