Covid, Flu & Childhood Vaccinations required, where to start?

Hi @Erica , not too bad Thankyou. Struggling a bit with not sleeping at the moment , so running on empty, but won’t dwell on it. I don’t want to take sleeping tablets, so exercising a lot, getting fresh air and eating healthy, hoping it will work. Just like most things, the GP says it’s probably the menopause, so onwards and upwards. I finally realise that I have to look after myself, so that I’m fit to help others, I just like to keep busy.
More importantly, how are you doing? Take good care of yourself…:kissing_heart:

Oh we are such complex beings @Olivia and I am so impressed that you have realised that you have to look after yourself so you can look after others, it is not easy is it?
You say ‘more importantly’ how am I, I reckon we are both equally important!!!
It is so much easier to deplete our batteries than it is to replenish them
What I am not any good at is doing anything in moderation, I don’t think my gearbox was made with those middle gears. or perhaps I never learnt to use them???
Yes, let’s both have a go at being kind to ourselves

Hi @ paula1; how are you getting on with the maintenance treatment? Have you had any of your childhood vaccinations yet? Hubby has had flu & Covid primary jabs, will have a Covid booster next… He also started his childhood jabs last week.
Hi to @2DB and @Erica too. Hope you are keeping well and probably getting ready for the festivities…. Hope none of you have had issues with the weather recently, snow, rain, floods ect…
Anyway, sending you all a big hug and a happy Xmas…:christmas_tree::santa:

Hi Olivia, @Erica , @2DB
Doing really well here thank you, consultant told me I’m in full remission :clap:.
I start my maintenance treatment next week.
I’ve had 2 lots of immunisation so far. Have my bone marrow biopsy 16th Dec, only visit the hospital every 2 weeks now which is a bit easier.
Never had any snow here just wind we are right on the cliff edge overlooking the beach.
Might put up the decs this weekend and get into the jolly spirit🎄
Lots of love to everybody, keep in touch xxx

Hi @ paula1,
how are things. Did you get your results from your biopsy?
Good news about becoming a nana, must be a great feeling. Would you like a boy or a girl? Are you still having your childhood vaccinations. I hope all is going good for you and you still feel ok.
Hubby still suffers with fatigue, and is a bit fed up of taking all the tablets and going for treatment, but realises that he needs it and he is grateful he doesn’t suffer as bad as some people. It’s been a long year and I wish I could help him more. I think I’m a bit over protective and this can cause tension, I’m trying to step back a bit now. I’m hoping he will venture out more now that he has had a few vaccinations, Hopefully he will be building up some immunity now.
Hi @2DB , @Erica , hope you are doing well too. Look after yourselves.

Hi @Olivia yes, it must have been a very long year.
You are so caring and it must be so difficult to step a couple of steps back, perhaps actually reframe it and look at it as actually helping him to get some independence and self esteem back. And even perhaps you might even just see this as an achievement for you too.
Perhaps he might naturally venture out more when spring has spring and I just gearing myself up for venturing out, I hope the wind will be behind me !!!

Hi Olivia
I’m doing fine thank you, biopsy results were clear but they were still waiting for the results to come back from the trial. Not on as many tablets now thankfully. I have had my child vaccinations now but nothing for 12months now also had the shingles jab. Have consultant next week so I am going to ask if I can go abroad for a week between treatment in February.
How was hubbys biopsy? I am sure once the weather picks up he will want to be out and about.
You take care :kissing_heart:
Hello @Erica & @2DB hope your both doing well?

Hi @Olivia and @Paula1

I’m still shielding so I can understand hubbies resistance to venturing outdoors
Even though we have had treatment and some sort of remission we are still vulnerable to infections
Fatigue comes along on the journey. Some days I cannot do anything other days I can and I’m 8 years into my myeloma journey

@Olivia it is ok to have your own bit of life and I hope you do. Hubby will find his new normal give him time.
I encouraged my kids (I’m a single mum) to get on with their lives while I adjusted.
For now have a date night at home with a movie and chocolate or make dinner together

Good to hear your doing ok @Paula1 and good luck with trial results

We all heal differently mentally and physically
Take one day at a time.

Im stable bloods wise
I have had a cough since treatment in December
The timeline suggest it’s Daratumumab cough and I’m going back on a very lose dose of steroids next treatment

@Paula1 , so good to hear that your biopsy was clear & you don’t need anymore vaccinations for a while. What results were you waiting for from the trial?
Did you manage to go abroad for a week as you planned in February, if, so did you have to make any special plans? Hoping that I can encourage OH to have a break in the near future.
Are you still having treatment fortnightly? Hope you still feeling good, any news on the nana front yet.
Keep in touch, take care of you.xx

Hello, sorry for the very late reply. I haven’t been on holiday yet as I got too busy with work and my husbands mother is in hospital she’s 95.
My daughter had a baby girl and called her Bonnie Elizabeth Hughes.
How is your Hubby doing? My Para proteins are starting to rise the last 2 months but they said nothing to worry about as they can fluctuate and if they rise to 5 I might have to change my medication. Hope they settle down again.
Please keep in touch with an update of how you are both doing xx
