Its between Pearce and Maldini when I make my choice for left back?
Each to their own and some very good choices, but was there a reason for not picking Messi?

What is meant by ā€œPost Splitā€ fixtures in Scotland? @diana @Iain @Erica

I believe its as follows, but open to correction.

Scots Prem teams by size of league play each other more regularly than in the English Prem.

After theyā€™ve matched each other so many times, I think its the first 3 the top 6 sides and bottom 6 play split as if in 2 leagues. Hence no one knows the mini-leagues until final programme completed.
Not everyones cup of tea. Think of the interest (and money) raised if Toffees, Foxes, Foresr, Saints, Bournemouth, Hammers play each other.

Hope Iā€™m not misleading anyone.

Messi is arguably the best ever. Naturally a great and best ever to play the game.

But I canā€™t explain it but find Ronaldo a more interesting and divisive character.

I didnā€™t put him on my list to the fact you canā€™t support Liverpool and Man Utd or Arsenal and Spurs , Derby and Forest and Villa and Birmingham City.

Well I get what you mean, currently Ronaldo is a sub in my drafted choice at the moment with Messi starting up front, well Id welcome both on loan at Everton, ā€œpay as you playā€ put it that way!:joy:

@Iain
So basically in final weeks of season top half and bottom half effectively split into 2 mini leagues to decide season conclusion?

Yep! Thats as I used it.
2 groups of 6.
A draw then sets 5 matches for each group.

I must admit I can only guess the top heavy Celtic Rangers scene needs something to keep interests.

There again if you consider Rugby League and Rugby Union :rugby_football: they play their fixtures then the top 4 play off a semi and then final. League leaders play 4th and League runners up play 3rd. The ultimate League Champions could be any of those 4
Think what would be said if that happened in Soccer

I understand the basic theory of Scottish scenario. As for Rugby lg I find thevSuper Lg playoffs bizarre, but it is to a football fan. 4th beats 1st to be Champions?!

Agreed. If they want to have league champions acknowledged with :trophy: and then a bolt on extra money spinner :1st_place_medal: so be it but its got to be the league results that lead to Europe. With the already crowded Prem calendar I canā€™t see it happening there.

@Iain
Yet it has always existed in Australia, a country were 1ST=winners ARE THE TROPHY HOLDERS.
Football has Europe, Rl has nothing and needs more money, perhaps thats why.

Another exciting bottom of the table game tonight - for once Iā€™m rooting for the Foxes. I think our fate will be finally decided this week too, if we lose to Bournemouth.
What do people think about the managerial goings-on in London? Looks as though Chelsea will announce Poch in the next 24h.
Incidentally @Erica, Iā€™ve missed out on most of the discussion (apologies) because the only email notification Iā€™ve had since my last post was @anon06 today about post-split fixtures. I replied but it got bounced back to me, so Iā€™m not sure whatā€™s going on.

Exactly. My Rugby Union :rugby_football: team (Tigers) won last years Championship This year they are 3rd in the league theyā€™ll play the 2nd in table at their ground. If Tigers win they make the final and anythings possible :trophy:. Iā€™m old school you win the league you win the trophy.
Something that must be noted however is the Rugby Union league, unlike soccer doesnt stop when the miriad of international games are played. The argument is given that the extra matches level off any losses in season due to lossed key players. Think Spurs losing Kane for half the season!

@Erica @Iain @diana @Rammie18 Here is my team line up
My team is called Blue Spirits, bcause weather at club or international level, they have all worn Blue. Iā€™m confident about the defence playing well as a back four unit. Not sure how midfield would blend, but Dalglish and Best would have free roles and swop positions and they are that Good I think they would adapt to any position. Bobby Moore and Alan Ball have been added after references to 1966 in chats.
The forward line speaks for itself, Messi would play further back, providing a link between midfield and attack.

I look forward to selections

Remember City still have to play Everton @Erica !

I was trying to get onto here first @anon06 !!!
Yes, Arsenal really went down to City, didnā€™t they, I ask myself if they want it enough? Is it the pressure, which is no excuse? are they just not good enough? Or are just City really on the top of their game at the moment? Perhaps I was not cheering them on enough? I donā€™t know, I await all your thoughts.
I am a bit busy at the moment and my technical expertise might not be up to it so you might not get my dream team at the moment.
I am still reading this thread with admiration of others

Its ok obviously re dream team, on that Iā€™m working on kit designs and player synopsis
Yes city are that good sadly for Arsenal, if both teams keep wining City will take title, but remember they still have to play Everton, and Im sure they will do everything in memory of Dixie Dean to stop his 60 goals record being broken

@anon06 my kit idea is based on the red Arsenal home kit 22/23 ( I am having an Arsenal dream team) with red top, shorts and socks and somehow incorporating the Blood Cancer UK logo and ABCD for Arsenal Blood Cancer Dream Team. I would not have any gambling sponsorship or logos. I would keep Emirates and Adidas etc. this is work in my mind at the moment. Any thoughts welcome.
