The end of season bottom of table action continues especially with Forest getting a good result yesterday. An East Midlands battle for sure with Foxes only getting a point on Tuesday.
Now for East Mids against Merseyside.
@Iain
Indeed. The problem with Everton (obvious all season), although they make lots of effort, teams have them ādeckedā, then capitalise at the right moment, because they know Everton lack imagination. Opposition simply win 2nd ball and they beat Everton.
Dyche who inherited problems is getting more from them than anyone and deserves a lot of credit, but thatās not saying much. Its like having a nice looking car, but the parts are cheap or not compatible.
To be perfectly honest the car is rusting rapidly.
Hope Im wrong but I think Madison will have a field day on Monday.
@Iain What was the official reason for sacking Claudio, I was dismayed by this decision. How did you feel then and how do you feel now 2 managers later? 2016 is not that long ago, to have such a dramatic drop in position since being champions. Do you blame board or managers?
Must admit came as a shock. For a solid ānearly clubā over the years City were still entertaining the faithful.
Suggestions of player unrest always appear on such occasions and certainly there were players getting ideas and financial dreams above their abilities being hard to motivate a second time..
Players such as Vardy appeared humbly happy with his lot at the Foxes perhaps his experience and expectations of the lower leagues and of course heās still with us. Whereas someone like Danny Drinkwater, with a flash of an England shirt wanted up and away. Chelsea and oblivion???
Other stories circulated of backroom staff plotting, as though that happens in the grown up mature intelligent world of Association Football .
Puel had experience but didnāt have the personality with the fans; Claudio had a charm that pulled the fans with him irrespective of a result and Brendan appears to have favoured rightly or wrongly some players.
There are still are questions asked about the shadow that was/is Shakespeare "Beware the Ides of March! "?
Interesting reply, both players and board have shot themselves in the foot. Yes you get that re drinkwater, we had Barmby got back in England squad and wanted to join Liverpool.
Players will always be āplayer$ā In reading your reply the board should of backed Claudio, who had built a foundation.
@Iain did u ever read much on the āconflictingā stories involving Lineker going to Barcelona from Everton. It depends who you believe, but its interesting, let me know if you want me to elaborate.
@Iain
You deleted your post, dare I ask why?
By error!
Essence of my thoughts was āstill squeaky bum timeā. Toffees get a point, Foxes lose two".
Iām old school who sees no sense in this so called āmodern idea of playing it out from the backā. Defence/keeper clear the the box, be it to halfway or row Z. Play your manipulating moves in midfield and the forwards knock in the goals. Couldnāt help but agree with Kasper when asked about the āslideā he mentioned the whole new culture change of playing āfrom the backā. He didnāt sound too keen on the idea, moving away from a successful formula.
Soccer was a simple game with rules anyone could follow. Now falsely complex, full of gobbledegook much of it off field just to keep the TV pundits in 24 hours of repeats.
How did the nation get by with Saturday 3pm kickoffs only with just 3 or 4 hours of assorted sport TV (BBC or ITV only) and a highlight of footy on Saturday evenings. Journalists werenāt seen. Their work was for the Sunday morning chip paper.
Ah! or should that be Arghh! They say reminiscing is good for the Dementia .
As for the Lineker sagas thereās plenty floating around. Linekers a well known fruit and veg stall on Leicesterās famous outdoor market made even more well-known by Gary who stuck to sport (cricket and soccer) whilst his brother Wayne stayed in the Market.
Wayne became a multimillionaire with a chain of Bars and Restaurants in Spain. As kids we were told that Wayne was the better footballer.
How much his brother, or maybe his brothers business contacts influenced Garyās move abroad is open to conjecture. Needless to say there was a lot of gossip about the women in his life as well.

@Iain
On last nights game I will initaily say credit to Leicester.
In normal circumstances you may be right.
I felt a point suited Leicester better than Everton. Both managers will not be satisfied though.
Although an even game the better quality was with Leicester, perhaps expected.
I was just furious with Everton for not taking advantage of the advantage they were given to start with, especially given the enormity of the game.
Re Everton:Away from home, they get a penalty, āa gift from godā, (the player might as well of picked up the ball.). Everton take lead, but go in half time 2-1 down?!The first Leicester goal I felt was bad marking, the second was a virtual through ball by Iwobi for Vardy. Credit to Leicester for taking advantage. Whereas Lewin didnāt later in the game, he was also fortunate with his penalty goal, (I never think its wise to strike a penalty high) āOkā Everton fought hard in 2nd half and forced a great save from Leicester keeper. Of course they scored as well. Overall Iām furious with Everton, I say again credit to Leicester.
A great penalty save by Pickford, a great goal by Iwobi, but in all honesty how often do they happen in the same game in favour of the same team, hardly reasons why I should be confident about remaining fixtures.
Re:Gary Lineker
84/85 Everton Champions
85/86 Everton sign Gary Lineker
Everton finish 2nd in league and runners up in cup
Gary Lineker leaves Everton end of season after 1986 world cup
86/87 Everton Champions
Ok look at the stats above.
Gary Lineker wrote an open letter to club thanking club for RELEASING him from contract and fans for support. Printed in local paper.
Lineker claims in later years Everton sold him. āWhen a manager says the club have accepted offer from another team, you know what that meansā He has INSISTED HE NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE
Kendal had decided to revert back to the āteam gameā of 84/85, yet claimed HE NEVER WANTED TO SELL GARY.
After 86/87 there was a slow downward spiral at Everton, some would argue 86/87 covered up cracks of selling Lineker, others would say thats harsh.
Looking at the broader picture I say Kendal was a great manager.
It could be argued Lineker left of his own accord for the challenge of Europe, as English teams were banned.
As for Lineker people will make their own minds up.
@Erica good luck against Chelsea.
I like Lampard, but Arsenal have chance of title, so Ill be rooting for you and Arteta & remember City still have to go to Everton.
Thanks @anon06 I appreciate your post, I was keeping quiet on this thread till after tonightās game, we await!!!
Btw did you notice my post about Lineker, who do you believe?
Hi @anon06 Oh, I donāt know enough to have an opinion.
Just switched on after 55minutes, safe to say your team will be undefeated then!
You will be glad to know that I have started breathing again here @anon06 !!
Ha ha surly you were not worried about the consolation goal?!
The games not over till the final whistle as we all know @anon06
Ericaās Gooners still fighting, Foxes being caught by the hounds and still Forest, Saints and Toffees to have a word. Did I mention Leeds.
Ah well itās only a game
Now whereās the bottle opener.I need a swig of Chemotharapy
What was Cotte like for Leicester? One of many players Everton let go too early, if memory serves me correct he Went from West Ham to Everton, back to West Ham, then from West Ham to Leicester .
Yes thatās right 99 goals for Everton, they ācashed inā sold him and never replaced him adequately!
