Holiday insurance

Hi there. I have only just managed to get the confidence to join. Really pleased to say hi to everyone. I am currently on watch and wait. I am trying to get holiday insurance. Has anyone any ideas on which company to use?

Hi Jude thank you so much. Just trying to complete the form. Bit tricky… One of the questions is are you awaiting any further appointments. I’ve just been to my most recent ( went really well), but as on watch and wait, we are always awaiting our next appointment. So not sure what to put.

Welcome to the forum @Dress1,

I’m so pleased you’ve joined. It’s a very caring and supporting community so please feel welcome.

Perhaps try to speak to a staff member at the recommended broker to make sure you provide the correct information as I understand your concern with being on watch and wait and the questions you get asked in the insurance application.

Hopefully that helps. Where are you travelling to?

Take care

Nick

Hi @Dress1 so glad you have found us there are some other posts on holiday insurance. Have a look around the forum and you will see lots of topics on this. This will take you to lots of posts on this.

My personal experience has been individual bookings have been more cost effective than an annual policy since my diagnosis.
Enjoy your travels and do tell us about them on here

Oh @Dress1 and thanks so much for having the courage to post.
I note you are already filling in the travel insurance application form.
Personally I would check with the company if you have any doubt about filling out the form.
What I would say is you quite rightly say you are on watch and wait, which is also called active monitoring, so yes, we are always awaiting further appointments I suppose.
Please let us know how you get on.

Hi Nick thank you :relieved:. I gave them a call and they did try to help. It is so confusing. Going to America. Thank you again

Aw @Dress1 I love yoga it’s been my absolute go to throughout my treatment and ever since. Not a day goes by without a little bit of yoga . I’ve just completed January 30 day yoga challenge and my mission is to do 365 days this year!
I go to a class regularly and have recently joined a new one too  whole heartedly recommend it

Hi @Dress1, welcome to the forum. Please feel free to contribute to any other threads on the forum too.
Great question.
I have just tried Insurancewith but they wouldn’t cover me for their equivalent to annual cover (longstay) because I am over 55.
I use Nationwide Flexiplus Insurance. It’s provided as part of the Nationwide Flexiplus account. You pay £13 per month for worldwide travel up 31 days with mobile phone and car breakdown insurance also included. Used the breakdown in Ireland and it worked a treat.
You need to buy an age extension if over 70 and/or get longer trip extensions and/or have your conditions covered for approx an additional £60 for each extension.

Hi and welcome! I use Staysure for ET and also heart issues. Around £250 for a years cover for 2 people. Not too bad.

I don’t know what you would put if you are on 'watch and wait’but make 100 percent sure that you put the right thing as it’ll invalidate the insurance.Since I was diagnosed with stage 2b Mycosis Fungoides in December 2019 I have only travelled in England, Scotland and Wales but from what I understand from others travel insurance would have been pricey if indeed you can get it.A friend told me about his mother who had Breast Cancer who got travel insurance but it excluded the cancer so say she slipped and broke a leg she’d be covered.I was going to go to St Lezer in the south of France to see my cousin in a few days but the trip fell through due to his wife being ill although to be honest I’m glad in a way as I was worried about strikes both here and in France. As for travel insurance I was just going to risk it as France isn’t far but as it now turns out it’s academic.I think that Amman, Jordan was my last more exotic trip in October of 2019?

Hi dress1, we used Allclear. I found it really straight forward to my amazement. We got a years policy for both of us for £671 …. I know this sounds quite expensive but that was me adding on winter sports for a trip I am going on my own. Plus we are hoping to do several trips as husband in remission and I didn’t want to have to complete the application for every trip as it can be hard to remember everything !,

I always use Staysure. I was watch n wait but ended up having treatment earlier than expected. They specialise in cancer diagnosis. Fortunately never made a claim but i did my insurance over phone much easier as found some of the questions a bit tricky. Ill be using them again soon, a yearly insurance. Good luck.

Hi, I have JAK2POSITIVE ET and really struggled to get insurance for Canada, I on Hydroxycarbamide and other meds and over 70. Anyway, I found The Post Office at less than half the other whites but still cost £500+. Good luck.
