Lump half way down under ear

Hi guys my name’s Rachael I’m 27 , I have recently found a mobile lump that’s roughly around 1cm I think? It’s about 1cm maybe slightly more ? It moves when I feel it , I have been to my gp about it she wasn’t concerned I feel she wasn’t taking me seriously ! She goes it’s just a swollen lymph node it will go away I have no symptoms apart from itchiness the weight loss is due to a huge calorie deficit I put myself I’ve only really lost half a stone ! I have paid private to get an ultrasound next Tuesday which alot people but I’d rather for my own peace of mind !

I have no idea what this could be I wish I knew I feel sorry for my boyfriend he keeps telling me it’s nothing to worry about but he’s not a gp and I keep stating how would you know ! Lol trying times sometimes

I hope everyone is well :mending_heart:

Hello @rhempkin123 welcome to our forum, I hope you do not need us.
Perhaps you have done all you can at this point and you have an ultrasound booked for next Tuesday.
Yes, peace of mind means a lot to me too.
But the waiting and not knowing is a horrible time.
I am not a medical person, but I am a great believer in diversion tactics, perhaps do some really nice things with your boyfriend to take your mind off your ear over the next week or so.
Look after yourselves, be very kind to yourselves and enjoy yourselves. Let us know how you get on

Hi @rhempkin123,

Thank you for reaching out to us and welcome to our forum.

It understandable that you are worried and its always best to get these things checked out.

Given that you have posted here, I suspect that you are worried about blood cancer.
You may find our 'Blood cancer symptoms and signs’ page helpful to read - it contains information on what to look out for, as well as prompts for questions you might like to ask your doctor. As you feel that your GP is not taking you seriously, I would suggest asking to see a different one if you can at your surgery. Whilst most people who have symptoms will not have blood cancer, its important to find out what is causing them and its important that you feel that your concerns are being listened to.

It is a pity that you have paid for a private ultra sound but you will get prompt answers and like you said, will give you peace of mind.

Let us know how you get on with your scan on Tuesday and if you want to talk things over, please feel free to contact our support nurses on 0808 2080 888.

Take care
Fiona ( Support Services Nurse)
