I am feeling guilty now. We went out for afternoon tea with my daughter on Sunday. She tested positive today and is not feeling well.
I went to jubilee celebrations in the village with her and grandchildren on Saturday and to listen to a jazz band in the afternoon. We did have a lovely weekend but paying the price now.
Since having my 5th vaccine i must admit i have let my guard down and not been as careful as i had been. I suppose it was inevitable i would catch it
Please donât feel guilty. You didnât know and i am sure once you feel better you will be able to accept that. Feeling unwell always makes things seem worse and there is too much time to think. Lack of sleep doesnât help either. I am sure no one blames you so for now just look after yourself.
x
I completely agree @Chrispy. Just concentrate on getting well X
Please donât feel guilty @ilivesunshine, you are entitled to get out. Please keep me updated as our contact from NHS England directly contacted your CCG so fingers crossed for today. Take care Gemma
Thanks for arranging that Gemma. My macmillan nurse called to yell me but i wasnt sure who had instigated it. Hopefully someone will ring today otherwise it will be too late for the antivirals. I would have thought the sooner they are taken the better but 111 donât seem to be concerned at all about the delay. They are blaming the jubilee weekend. Surely they must have know this was going to happen. Our refuse collectors carried on working. Maybe 111 should have done so too to avoid the backlog building up.
I will met you know if i manage to get them today.
No we didnt know. Tests were negative until Tuesday even though we started to feel unwell on Monday. We have been out and about a lot over the weekend. I hope we didnt infect anyone at the jubilee dance on Sunday evening.
It was fancy dress and the queen popped in
!
I have just had a reply to the email i sent on the link you have on your website. They said i should contact my GP surgery again and ask to speak to the practice manager. Apparently all GPs have been sent a letter telling them how to refer patients for the anti virals. All apart from mine it seems!
I have just spent 20 minutes on the phone. The GP said no can do ring 111.
I am just hoping someone will contact me soon.
My GP said that she had referred people to the cmdu but the preferred route was 111. She also mention 119.
RESULT! I have the anti virals. Thanks for all the help. Cutting it very fine but at least i have them now.
@ilivesunshine, you have made my day! So did the CMDU finally get in touch? Hoping you feel better very soon. Take care Gemma
I have also managed to dodge covid and also getting a little bolder with my social life. I am considering a cruise in August/September but I am also a touch apprehensive about being on a ship (boat?) where infections seem to spread quite quickly. I have asked many times about regaining full immunity after chemo, but I donât think there is a definitive answer. Anyway sun is shining so off to the pub for a drink ( if itâs not too crowded!)
Iâm so pleased. And breathe! X
I hope you make the right decision about your cruise. I am also wary about cruising even though we have one booked for February. The more i read about people catching it on board the more wary i am. But we have made the decision to get back to a normal life which includes an element of risk. We enjoyed a fab cruise with no ports last summer and felt very safe. I would happily do that again but no longer an option.
Phew⌠big breathes. I will have nothing to worry about tonight!
It was an infectious diseases doctor from my hospital who arranged it in a few minutes thanks to your intervention.
If 111 had told me i could get them from the hospital it would have saved me a lot of hassle.
Anyway allâs well that ends well and thanks again
I had my 4th booster jab a few days ago.I did catch something in February when I went down to Oxford to a friend memorial service (heâd died during the pandemic and nobody could go to the funeral but I donât know if it was COVID-19 as he he had an ailment similar to MS)but it wasnât very bad and I donât know if it was COVID-19 or a Common Cold?
I completely understand all the being passed from pillar to post as I can never get either my GP or my haematology team to take responsibility for things. Itâs very frustrating but glad people are getting out again and feeling more adventurous. I spent last week in Prague and the travel experience isnât as smooth as it used to be. The airport was bursting at the seems with no seats free and mile long queues at every cafe and bar plus a two hour delay to the flight. Visiting the places I went was nice but I guess itâs a case of weighing whether youâre prepared to put up with all of the extra hassle that airports now come with post Brexit and post pandemic. If someone is still anxious about mixing with too many people I can see it might be a problem, but I think Iâm over that phase now and ready to carry on living, hassle and all
I got an email yesterday asking if i want to make complaint against my GP surgery for refusing to help me get the antivirals. I am not sure if i should or not. 2 reasons. I dont want to be struck off and left without a doctor and i did eventually get the antivirals despite my GP.
On the other hand if i dont say anything this fiasco will continue and other people may not get the treatment they should be having.
Dilemma.
Good Morning @ilivesunshine,
Your feelings on this are definitely normal as it often goes against the grain when we are in a position of raising our complaints. Also please be assured that if you do decide to raise a grievance this will not cause you in any way to be struck off from the practice or indeed affect your GP patient relationship moving forwards. This simple means that your are voicing a fault in the process and sharing your own experience to the practice manager in order for it to be rectified in the hope that others do not go through similar to what you have. It will essentially give them a chance to make it right and do things better in the future.
Please do know that should you wish to talk things through about this, please do know that our support team would be more than happy to do so with you- 0808 2080 888.
Take Care, Lauran
