Hi I’m new here and just to say my husband had an incidental finding of slightly elevated WCC and lymphotosis , 5.8.
Gp referred him to haematology , who requested a PBS,. Got word to day for an appointment with haematology but no idea why !!! Now very worried . May be Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)
Good Afternoon @Lindy1,
Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear the worries you have currently with your husbands health.
Can I ask if he is well in himself?
A PBS blood test is a sample where the blood is analysed under the microscope, it is a simple way to look for any obvious abnormalities in the circulating blood cells.
When is the appointment for? I would encourage you to take one step at a time, white cells can be elevated for a range of reasons including illness, inflammation or infection, so it would be impossible to say why this has happened without the next set of results. The haematologist will hopefully have some answers for you at the appointment.
I do hope you haven’t got long to wait and do keep us updated.
Best Wishes,
Heidi J (Support Services Nurse)
Awk thank you so much for your reply , yes he is totally well , no symptoms . His apt is 3 rd jan .
I’m a midwife and am jumping to conclusions I suppose but GP seems to be thinking CCL but not confirmed .
Thanks so much

Hi @Lindy1 I am so glad that you have found us at this time pf uncertainty for you both.
I have Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and I was diagnosed just before Christmas and went through the holiday period feeling as if I was in a bubble with the world celebrating around me.
That was 20 yrs ago and what I have learnt is not to second guess 'cose I always get it wrong.
Also that my thoughts and emotions have been on high alert since my diagnosis.
You are now part of Blood Cancer UK and our forum family and the not knowing and waiting is horrible. We will be about all over the holidays
What I would say is if your husband is totally well with no symptoms then just ‘Love the life you live and live the life you love’ (Rod Stewart) a day at a time, I know it is easier said than done,
The Blood Cancer UK support line is there for you on 0808 2080 888
I look forward to hearing more about you both, look after yourselves, anxiety is natural
Thank you for your encouragement , trying not to be too anxious but finding it difficult . Good to be on the forum especially at this time of year with so many celebrations happening . Lindy
