Hi @JillyT Good news that your consultant has told you not to worry.
Unfortunately we are not able to explain medical data, it is medical speak and your consultant, specialist nurse and team knows you and your medical history.
A lot of things are taken into account, not just test data.
This makes a good basis for questions the next time you see your medical team.
Now is your opportunity to write all your fears, questions and practicalities as well.
I find being pleasantly assertive is a good approach, ask for clarification, it is like a foreign language, and don’t leave until you feel satisfied.
Please do let us know how you get on and look after yourself

Hi @JillyT.
Resulysnare so confusing aren’t they and mean so many things depending on your diagnosis and history.
@Erica has given great advice. It’s really important to ask those questions to your medical team.
When is your next appointment?

Hi Jilly,

Thanks for your question - results are something we’re asked about a lot as they can be confusing.

I can see you’ve already got some great advice here about talking to your hospital team to get them to explain them to you. I wanted to share this also in advance of that conversation in case it helps: Blood cells | Blood Cancer UK It gives some information about blood cells and hopefully a basic understanding of some of the blood cell counts that you’ll see in your results.

As you get more familiar with this type of information, you can get to know what your ‘normal’ range is so you’ll have more of a clue if something is ‘abnormal’ for you. It’s important to bear in mind that your new normal may not be the same as the ‘healthy person’ numbers on the webpage but your consultant will have an idea of what is acceptable for you and if/when there’s anything to worry about. I hope that makes sense - please do say if not! :slightly_smiling_face:

Most important thing is that you do go in and ask any questions and concerns you have - it can be handy to write things down in advance. If you’d like to talk anything through in advance or after your appointment, our Support Service team are there for you - you can speak in confidence to a Support Services nurse by calling our free Support Line on 0808 2080 888 .

All the best,
