Hi @Amandabubble you are definitely not making a fuss in my book, we know when something does not feel right and any tests we have are to rule conditions in or out.
Do nice things for yourself and please do keep us posted
Hi again! I had a chest xray last week and have had a call from the doctors asking for a telephone consultation next Wednesday. Not quite sure what they may say. Anyone else have this kind of experience? (My IgM level was low and I keep get recurring sinusitis)
Hi @Amandabubble personally I am having a lot of calls from my GP with phone appointments recently. I believe that it a cost effective way of having appointments with more more patients when appropriate.
If there is a reason that you would prefer a face to face appointment it might be worth requesting it.
Please do look after yourself, the waiting is the worst and please do let us know how next Wed goes.
Look after yourself
Thank you for your reply. I’m happy to have a telephone consultation, I was wondering more on the, what an x ray could show?
Hi @Amandabubble that is a good question for your next telephone appointment.
Please let us know what they say.
Look after yourself
I hope the x-ray feedback is good news, @Amandabubble, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you next week.
In the meantime, I imagine the waiting will be uncomfortable. Have you got much planned in between? I try to occupy myself with diverting stuff when I’m awaiting test results. There’s lots of looong films out right now, for example!
My xray raised more questions than it answered! There wasn’t any sign of swollen lymph nodes but did show fibrosis The doctor asked on Wednesday for an urgent CT scan but I haven’t heard anything yet.
Just had my new blood tests back and my IgM is low still and my IgA is slightly elevated. I have a call with the doctor Thursday morning.
I certainly understand the ‘more questions that answers’ @Amandabubble.
Also the never ending waiting for answers.
Please do prepare for your doctors call on Thursday morning and report back.
Look after yourself.
So apparently I’m an enigma! Some bloods are showing low levels of protein and some are showing on the high side so I’m being referred to the haematologist for suspected multiple myeloma. The waiting and the unknown is so stressful
Oh @Amandabubble yes, the waiting and not knowing is so stressful.
I think being an enigma is definitely a compliment !!!
Please do let us know how you get on and try and distract yourself in between and be very kind to yourself
Waiting really is the hardest part and I wish we could speed up time!
Please keep us updated on how you are doing X
So had my CT scan today - hooray! Only after ringing to see if I was in the waiting list though and then was put on the cancellation list! In respect of my haematologist referral, I have been chasing the doctor as the hospital hadn’t had a referral and she has only just done it today!! If I hadn’t have chased I wouldn’t have been referred! I am not happy about that! But hopefully now in the system!
That’s excellent, well done for ringing to check about cancellations. One less thing to await or wonder about. I’d be fascinated to know more about the procedure itself, I’ve never had a CT scan. Of course no worries if you don’t want to get into details.
That’s got to be slightly annoying having to chase everything up to even get the different processes started… But again well done for advocating so well for yourself. Sometimes we need to remind our specialists just to chivvy them into action, I find. If it keeps on happening for you though I might be tempted to point out how slack they’ve been.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the CT scan has helpful findings for you, @Amandabubble
Oh @Amandabubble you have done well chasing and making sure that you are in the system.
I know that it is annoying but I have found I have often had to chase things after a reasonable period of time
Please do let us know how you get on and take care.
Well done for chasing. I know lots of us have experienced having to be assertive.
Definitely a win for you today
Thanks Duncan
The CT scan was really quick! You lie down on the bed and they put you through the ‘doughnut’ ask you to breathe in and hold your breath and repeat whilst something inside the doughnut spins round! That was it! A lot better than an MRI!
So very sci-fi then! I suppose a little like being encapsulated in a float tank, but with more noise and less water! Thanks, @Amandabubble! Wondered what CT scans would be like and now I won’t worry about them, should I need one.
Amandabubble Just wanted to say I hope you get answers soon. The waiting is very hard.
Definitely don’t need to worry about a CT scan Wasn’t even too noisy either tbf!
Ha one less thing to worry about then, thanks @Amandabubble!
