Found a lump on neck below jawline when I yawn

I found a lump on my neck one day when I yawned while doing makeup. It mostly appears only when I open my mouth. Any thoughts? I have been losing weight. Went from 137-123 in about a month. As well as some swelling in the face. One day I yawned and hit sent severe pain in my jaw corner. That has started going away. Had this lump for about four months Into my GP and he said it might be weak neck muscle and sent me for ultrasound which came back with nothing but I still need to know why the lump is still there and what is it? I also have extreme exhaustion. Some dizziness.

Hi @I have replied to your other post.
What has your GP the next step is?
It sounds as if it might be more tests to rule conditions in or out.
The waiting and not knowing is a horrible time in my book.
Really look after and take care of yourself

Hi @Tlc

Welcome to our forum.

I’m so sorry to read about the lump in your neck and how you’ve been feeling lately.

Given that you are still concerned about your health, we would strongly encourage you to speak to a member of your healthcare team, such as your GP again, as soon as possible.

I suspect, given that you have found our forum, you may be worried about blood cancer. You may, therefore find our 'Blood cancer symptoms and signs’ page helpful to read - it contains information on what to look out for, as well as prompts for questions you might like to ask your doctor. The questions are really useful to help you talk to your doctor if you have any concerns about what to say - it’s ok to be direct and say you are worried about blood cancer and is this something they can rule out.

As it explains on the webpage:

"Most people who have symptoms described on this page won’t have blood cancer. But it’s worrying to have symptoms you can’t explain, and important to find out what’s causing them, if only to set your mind at rest.

If you have just one symptom that you can’t explain, that goes on for a long time, or is unusual for you, book an appointment with your GP. If you suddenly feel very unwell at any time, get medical help straight away by calling 999 or going to A&E."

One of the first tests that would be done to investigate someone’s health is a full blood count (full blood count), which measures the number of each type of cell in your blood: red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. We have information about normal ranges on our website, and you can read more about each of the tests that might be done to confirm or rule out blood cancer here: bloodcancer.org.uk/understanding-blood-cancer/tests-diagnosis.

I want to reiterate that most people with these symptoms won’t have blood cancer, but you do need to get to the bottom of what is causing your symptoms and get some reassurance for yourself either way.

Take good care of yourself.

Kind regards,
Ali

Thank you for reply. My workload is crazy. Doing books for our family company. And then my son‘s wedding was held at her house and now my 85 year-old dad sold his house so I’m the only one to find him a new house because he has to be out January 31. So right now I have put it on hold. Not sure about the scale because when I dropped 121 from 137 and have skinny sagging skin as if it I lost it which I did. I told my husband if it went down under 120 I’d go in. This morning 117. But tomorrow could be 122. So no nothing has been done or booked, but instead of going to him and waiting two weeks for another appointment and not finding out, I am going to wait till the end of January and Dad is settled in. On the off chance it’s not good news. There’s only need to do it. He is 85 years old. I ruled out lockjaw from my jock, locking only when I yawn Or open my mouth wide. Everyone else said the pain was constant in a normal position. So my thoughts? Possibly a cyst and maybe that one root of it grew up towards my middle and the jaw corner. No teeth infections or anything I wear full dentures. So as I said, I put it off until I get my dad‘s situation in order and also get through Christmas There’s a lot of I get a little bit of a Butterfly in my tummy . And I do not really want to know if that intuition is correct as well until everything is done.
Thank you for reaching out

Oh @Tlc I was absolutely exhausted just reading your post, I couldnot not keep that many plates spinning, especially at this time of year.
Perhaps the saying that you have to look after yourself as well as you look after others, otherwise you might be no use to anyone, I feel really concerned with you.
I personally know the anxiety of not knowing does not help me emotionally or medically either and was worse from me that knowing
I am copying post to the Blood Cancer UK nurses @BloodCancerUK_Nurses
Please really be as kind to yourself as you are to others, you are so caring and such a support to others and look after yourself and please do keep posting xx

Hi @Tlc,

I am sorry to hear that life is crazy for you at the moment but you really need to look after your own health too. Losing that much weight over a short period of time is very worrying and I would strongly advise you not to wait until the end of January and book an appointment with your GP.

Please look after yourself and take care.

Thank you so much for taking the time as well as your valued opinion as it is much appreciated.
Also, sorry for the late reply. i am not really good at finding my way around computers to the extent when i finally join a forum, if i close the page i have a problem relocating it! in fact i only found you again thanks to the email link lol. And it is so much hearing from someone like you because google is good for some answers but unfortunately, because you cannot get into more detail. which means you are still in the dark. Thank you again for providing more clarification as well

Thank you so much for your reply. I definitely not knowing is worse and simply for the fact that it more than likely will not be what you fear it might be. I will definitely get on it. I appreciate and value your time as well as your thoughts. And I will definitely find the time to get on it sooner.
